I think that Brad and Angie do use media to their advantage but I'm not so sure that they're calling up rabid ex-criminals posing as photographers and suggesting that they follow them when they're spending time with their kids.

Of course Brad and Angie court the media. They have films to promote and charities to raise funds for. I'm a big fan of both of them. I think they've taken being a celebrity to a whole new level not unlike Redford or Newman. They're very well aware of the advantages life has afforded them and they make every effort to give back and raise awareness for various causes. I can do nothing but applaud their efforts and wish them the very best in all of their endeavors.
Angelina Jolie is a goddess is my mind. I love her and everything she does. I see people here saying she's an egomaniac. I vehemently disagree. I think she's brilliantly talented, wicked smart, and extremely gracious. She's someone that people can actually look up to in many respects and I can't fault her for that.

Also, because you are obsessed with the "wonder" that is Angelina Jolie, we are supposed to love her, too? I don't think so. I think you are hanging out at the wrong place, lady.
12/02/08
Where did I say you were supposed to love her? *rescans post* Hmmmm noooo nothing in there about you needing to love her.
Thank you for playing though and have a lovely day.
12/02/08
This indicates to me that we should all look up to her because you think she's so darn super! Um, no.
And thank YOU for playing, AngelinaJolieFan. So nice of you to stop by.

I doubt they're capable of laughing at themselves.

I think if Angelina ever pulled a "Britney" the response would be vastly different. It's just interesting how the public tends to rush to defend one person and in the same breath can denounce another for committing (what I believe to be) lesser evils.

Hey I like Courtney too. I was shocked yesterday (and pleasantly surprised) by the resounding support Courtney got. I'm not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing. I just thought it was an interesting sociological response is all. Upon reading this Brad/Angelina post, I expected a similar show of support only to find the opposite. My curiosity got the best of me I guess. I just wondered why.

difference between Courtney and Brad/Angie is...well, truth
I'll let you figure out what I mean by that.

They're just two people playing the game. I think people get mad because they play it really well.
12/02/08
No one is truly "real" with the public, and can you blame them? Look how we devour magazine quotes and interviews. It's a damn feeding frenzy. I know I do it, and there are celebs I cant stand, but I recognize it's all a game of staying on top.

"We got to make a distinction between people who photograph celebrities at events, and people who climb over your walls wearing camouflage, calling our your kids names as you're trying to take them to school...
They should not be able to follow kids like this."
There are normal channels for self-fame-whoring and dangerous ones invasive ones. I don't see ANYTHING wrong with his comment.

Rosie O'Donnell is also a fame-whore, but I don't see pictures of her family life plastered in Ok Magazine. Or hear of men with mega-zoom lenses peering into her hospital window in Southern France, trying to catch pictures of her giving birth. I don't like RD, but I don't think her giddy self-promotion mandates this type of "punishment."
12/02/08
And I don't think the argument about their fame-loving ways legitimates that behavior. Or, maybe to put it this way: A slutty girl might get attention from bad men. It might be annoying to hear her complain about attention, but it doesn't mean it is "okay" for her to be raped, right?
12/02/08
And I said repeatedly that the paparazzi is out of line, so I don't know where you're drawing this conclusion that I think they deserve to be punished. I will never understand people's need to take criticism of these two so personally that they put words in people's mouths instead of responding to what was actually said, which is that it's sad they get this treatment, but that they are fueling the demand for these photos all while condemning (and sometimes apparently cooperating) with the paparazzi. I don't get why this is difficult to understand.

I am quite aware that we have bigger problems to worry about. I still feel bad for celebs in this aspect.
12/02/08
I'm saying that people keep saying that Brad and Angie aren't fueling the situation by constantly releasing family photos and I am saying that the demand for paparazzi photos is obviously not abating, so while I agree with Brad (and said so in most of my comments), it's just hilarious to hear him beating that drum, as opposed to celebrities who make more of an effort to have some semblance of privacy in their lives. That's all I've been saying. I know there are people saying "Tough; that's what they signed up for." I'm not one of them.

I realize Brad and Angie are pretty much the most famous people ever but everything they've done - from the start of their relationship to posing for W - has contributed to that. And a LOT of it was intentional.

Not that I'm comparing the severity of rape to some paparazzi pictures, but there is this victim-blaming that gets out of hand. Even if Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie walked around LA with all six babies in tow, why does that make it okay to photograph them incessantly?
People who make the comparison of them releasing photos to magazines are misguided. Isn't there a difference between standing for a photo and having some random crazy chase you around taking your picture? I hate being in unsolicited pictures, and I imagine many others do, too. Why do celebrities have to endure this?
I don't even particularly like Brangelina or any celebrity (except Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert/Amy Sedaris/Tina Fey), but I still think this whole paparazzi system is disgusting and unfair.

anyone catch the Crazy Duggar Family....Meredith sitting there allowing these God, Bible, Religion spewing family to do just that, ramble on and on about God, Bible and Religion all while their 18? 19? 20? (with one on the way) children sitting behind them.
Perhaps Jezzie will post a video excerpt later in the day. ugh

If they have an opportunity to make millions that could, in turn, go and help someone I see no problem with it.
If they don't do the baby photo shoots, the paps get extremely dangerous and scary fighting to get that first shot of the babies. Remember what happened at their chateau in France when the paps tried to get the first pics of the twins. Doing a safe controlled photo shoot where all the proceeds will go to charity seems like a great alternative.
12/02/08
They are kind of in a different league than other celebrities and no matter what they do at this point, they are going to be pursued. However, the situation they find themselves in now is somewhat of their own making, and the solution to the problem can be of their own making too if they really want it to be.
12/02/08
They made roughly $14 million for charity by allowing People to photograph their twins. That's a lot of money. My point was that knowing how much those images go for, what paparazzi wouldn't attempt to get a piece of that? To make even a small fraction of it? They basically just put a price on their kids' heads. All of them. And yes I'm aware of what lengths the paparazzi will go to get images and that's why I said I agree with him that laws need to be enacted. Frankly I think an angel gets its wings everytime one of them is assaulted by a celebrity.
