    We I used to plan small comic boom/sci-fi conventions, she was the first "big name" to say yes, which led other big names to say yes too. She was an awesome lady. RIP.

    Her Nurse Chapel was one of the reasons I loved the original Start Trek. Her unrequited feelings for Spock made an interesting sideline on the show. Too bad it was never played up more.

    Aww, as a kid who watched TNG with her parents, of course I remember this woman! She played Troi's mom, if I'm not mistaken. (I did have to take a brain dive to find that name.)

    But seriously, I loved her Lwaxana Troi character and it sounds like she was a fascinating person. She will be missed, both in the Star Trek Universe and ours.

    My father met her in the early 1990's at a convention. She was very nice and took a picture with him and everything. I hope she rests in peace.

    Damn. Everytime I hear about someone dying from Leukemia I get a little more scared (Dad has it)- it's a terrible disease, and no way to go.

    @Samanthrax: I am sending good thoughts about your dad! I have never known anyone with Leukemia, but my dad has been fighting lymphoma on and off for 7 years (currently in remission!) and it really does hurt every time you see someone die of the disease.
