She's a beautiful (and very, very, very egotistical) woman, but why does she have to put eleven pounds of shiny gold stuff all over her face and body? It's so distracting and bizarre. It's like she's using her face to solar power a house.
To be honest, I don't really care if she has a decent voice or not. The music she makes is disposable pop music that is meant to be catchy, but doesn't require an opera-caliber voice. And, she worked hard to get where she has and clearly exhibits a great deal of business savvy.
Rather, what I find so irritating about her music is how painfully awful her lyrics are. Too many of her songs focus on name-dropping designers and pumping herself up. And she's in her mid 30s, so aside from making her seem completely egotistical, it makes her seem immature. She doesn't write her lyrics anyway, so can't she find better writers?
She's mistaken. I was temporarily duped into thinking that she wasn't Jenny from the block anymore, and my reaction was one of confusion over whether or not her rocks were indicative of her foresaking her block-ness, not awe over her vocal prowess.
@morninggloria: But don't you remember her earlier defenses? Think you gotta keep her iced, you don't! Think she's gonna spend her cash, she won't. Even if she were broke, her love doesn't cost a thing.
I don't mean to minimize your confusion, but she's been pretty clear on the matter. From the block, see?
Diva. You are not. Ella Fitzgerald. Diva. Aretha Franklin. Diva. Bette Midler. Diva.
You know what they have? Talent. Voice. Admiration?
You know what you have? A nice bum.
@OverratedUnderwhelmed: Out of Sight is one of the sexiest movies I've ever seen. The hotel with all the windows and the snow falling outside... Clooney...
She is just impossibly beautiful, and a far more talented actress than she often gets credit for, I think. And it's nice to see her in some pics where she looks her age, and gorgeous, after playing a high schooler at what, twenty-seven?
I'm not on board with the ELLE hate. At least they offer something to read every month (and not just about fashion and makeup; they had a provocative piece on 'gender disappointment' last month that both fascinated and repulsed me), and they pay a lot of attention to books. Unlike, say, Vogue or Bazaar.
@BlondeGoddess: I agree, I personally think its the best of the mainstream fashion mags. There are a lot of interesting articles and features. Vogue I think is a classification of its own and does its things pretty well, but to me Bazaar is just a bunch of pretty pictures of things I can't afford.
@BlondeGoddess: I agree. Elle and Vanity Fair are my favorite magazines as they actually have some decent articles. And almost every American fashion magazine is better than the mags they have where I live (Mexico) that are like catalogs of clothing against white backgrounds, where every item hovers around 2000 USD.
