Or... we used to have craptastic acne and worry about keeping breakouts at bay?

There's been a movement to accept fat that's doing great work, but not to accept flawed skin. You almost NEVER see people with bad skin in the media, which pretty much tells you that if you have chronic acne, you don't belong in the public eye.

The thing is, my skin is not even all that bad, and I am pretty good with makeup so during most days I look fine, but it is the #1 thing i am self-conscious about.
I envy people who can go somewhere without makeup on. I have not been able to do that for about 10 years.

Yes, I am disgusting.

You basically daub it on with a cotton ball and leave it to dry for about 5 minutes then wash off in the shower. It absorbs a lot of sebum and helps mattify the skin...and super cheaply.
(A few crushed aspirin in there will exfoliate nicely without scrubbing which can increase oil production...)

This I'm not sure of. I do know that the whole "moisturizers keep you from getting wrinkles ever!" is a myth--it's just that dry skin tends to make wrinkles more prominent than oily skin.
But at the same time, if my skin continues to act like it's 15 years old, well into my thirties, I suppose I don't have much room to complain.

1) morning - must make self look less like death.
2) night - must wash off things that provide the appearance of life.
What on earth could be so captivating about one's epidermis that she thinks about it "often or always?"
Though to be fair, it is a fascinating organ, if only in its complexity and size. Really interesting biological-type things happening on that there skin of yours...

Dear beauty industry: I get that you want us all to fork out many dineros for your slop, but if Paula Begoun tells me that not all skin needs a moisturizer, and that caking too much slop on my already-moist skin is going to make it worse, then I don't need a fucking moisturizer!

maria, i think both translations are correct.

However, as I mentioned in an above comment, I've found my absolute godsend in everydayminerals makeup. For real, this stuff has me prancing back to the mirror all day long to ooh and aah over how amazing my skin somehow looks. I got my mom and sister converted to it and recommend to all my friends!

The other weird thing is the rest of my body is dry as all hell. And during the winter, my skin itches like a mofo and I develop 'winter eczema'.
It sucks.

My skin is really, really active, so I don't like slathering it in ten kinds of moisturizer because...well, my skin makes its own. It's never dry. But I need sunblock. But even the oil-free ultra-light acne-prone sunblocks make me feel slimy and gross. Agh. I sunburn after fifteen minutes of sun exposure. It's icky.
I'm just going to stay indoors for the rest of my life. Shut up, skin.
