RE: Lil' Mama: My friend just told me one of her good friends announced he is transgendered. As she put it- "He's going transgendered! I mean, it's funny until it happens to someone you know! I want to be a good friend, but I don't know if I can be around him and support this." I was shocked. It was all I could do to stutter out that one does not simply "go transgendered."
The part that really got me, though, was "it's funny until it happens to someone you know". When was it funny? It's so disgusting that people's life choices and sexuality are viewed as one big joke. And I'm not saying that Lil' Mama hates transgendered people, but that fact that she was so easily able to make that joke without realizing the implications is very telling as to how our society perceives and values trans people.
I actually don't know what the prevailing sentiment is for Jezebel but I gotta be honest. If someone has a problem with drugs and it's ruining their lives, careers, relationships etc. I can see hoopla being hooped. Per the Noxema girl and fella it's just tattling (which sounds naive I realize but ). So what? It's their life to do as they please, all I ask is that they don't get into a vehicle or give it to kids. Their not role models and even if they were that's where parents should come in. I partake in things that if I were famous I may be flattened for. I guess it's the level of intake and responsibillity. Here ends the rant...on maybe a similar note, that Tim Burton quote is pretty priceless.
@TransFat: I'm going to guess most of Jez is with you. I know my response was, "...and?" Cocaine is not good news, but reporting back that they did it just feels like tattling, and is so incredibly not interesting.
Sounds like someone is upset that the public's sympathy is now more with his soon to be ex-wife. Some friendly advice Jon, if you want the public to sympathize with you, you should:
1. Stop publicly insulting the mother of your children.
2. Lay low-- that means no pool parties, club hopping, public one night stands, etc.
3. Stop wearing Ed Hardy clothes.
4. Stop telling the world that your rebound girlfriend is your soulmate.
5. Stop using your kids as weapons.
6. Stop being a douchenozzle.

re. DJ A.M., this is why everyone should set up their living wills, durable power of attorney, etc! Its so important. My parents forced my brother's and me to do it, it was annoying but it feels good to know its in place.
@Mmmmkay (gellin' and Jezebelin): But if you're ok with the default rules of the state, then why would it matter? Maybe he wanted everything to go to his mom.
@remedios: oh no, of course its possible he would have been completely okay with that, its just once its in writing then other people can't come in and say "but he told ME he was leaving xxx to me." My family had a horrible experience when my grandpa died, its just so much better to be clear before death about what you want, then no one can argue about it when you're gone.
As someone who suffers from almost daily migraines, at least my family is supportive. But what if you had an asshole husband like John McCain who probably didn't even believe you were in pain?!
@theorchidthief: Girl, I am so sorry. I just had one last night. It snuck up on me disguised as a mild headache until four hours later when it decided to cha-cha btwn my temples. But I'm lucky they come few and far btwn now. I used to get them almost everyday when I was suffering from multiple chemical sensitivities. I don't think people realize how everyday "safe" products are polluting our bodies and taking a toll on the liver and immune system. I had it so baaaad. It took years to detox back to some normalcy. Anyway I could talk about this for days. I truly sympathize and send a cyber cool towel to your forehead.
@theorchidthief: Mine were that bad a year and a half ago. I cut them down to 1-2 a month with beta blockers--I was really lucky to get it right on the first drug trial. I've had to add an antiepileptic that I do not like the side effects for (like, I think it's started giving me seizures, for the irony value alone?) because the frequency is creeping back up again. I'm worried finding a second drug isn't going to be so easy.
@theorchidthief: As a fellow migraine sufferer, I can attest that it's really annoying when people belittle the pain, nausea and weakness they cause me. My boyfriend has never had one in his life, but he understands that they're terrible for me. The only person who really understands is my mom, from whom I inherited the migraine problem.
@Flackette Goes Retro: Everything and anything not natural. I'm not even being caustic. It's dead serious stuff. I'm talking from regular detergents like Tide to dryer sheets (horribly dangerousl), nail polish, hairsprays, deodorants, perfumes, soaps, gels, candles to the more obvious stuff like bleaches, Pine Sol, Lysol and all of that industrial cleanser stuff. I had to eliminate all my creature comforts bit by bit because I could not believe these everyday products were causing such harm. But they do. :( It took six years to detox! Today I am still not 100%, but I do not have 12 hour migraines, cramps or nausea anymore. I can cope with most smells as long as I don't remain around them too long. The good news is I learned a helluva lot about living a more natural and healthy lifestyle. I learned you can actually have a clean home without killing yourself with fumes. Today I use vinegar, baking soda or hydrogen peroxide to clean and this place is spic and span! I'll share anything I can with you. But no matter what, I do recommend that you purify your environment by getting rid of all toxic and synthetic products. And yes; it is effed when people do not understand or believe you. It took a long time for people to get I was not being dramatic, and that I actually was very ill. Be well.
@greengrey: Ah, for some reason I read that as being his daughter and not his wife. I'd have migraines as Mrs. McCain too....plus I think my vagina would shut down and move out of the country.

Isn't it "lame duck", Jon?

I think he confused lame duck and cold fish. Though he's probably both, so perhaps he's right.

This song is god-awful. Like some Madonna imitator from the late 80's putting out a new single in 2001.
