Ah, yes, but has she mastered telekinesis? Does she have a sweet mentor named Miss Honey? Are her parents odious, anti-intellectual pigs, portrayed on the silver screen by Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman? Because given this feat, she mus secretly be Matilda.
To those with access to great public libraries - please appreciate them. Others have no choice but to spring for brand new/second-hand books and to sometimes use bookstores as libraries, which I recognize is not cool.
I'm a librarian at a snooty liberal arts college, and if it weren't for the faculty/students who regularly have HUNDREDS of books out at a time, we wouldn't have any shelf space. Huge props to all of you book-borrowers out there, and congrats, lady!
The lack of overdue fines blows me away, I WORK in the library where I borrow most of my books, and half of what I borrow I bring back a day or two late. It keeps me humble.
@dianersb was bit by a zombie: We have some pretty insane people around here. We do have faculty members with close to a thousand books out at any given time, but until someone recalls something it's just as easy for us to let them keep the books in their offices; we keep renewing it year after year... it's amazing what we find in the return bins when people finally retire ;-)
I will say, there is a huge difference between taking a book out and reading said book, and I'd be inclined to think that Ms. Brown has actually read more of her books than our users do.
Oh my, that will be my mother in 30-something years. She's a voracious reader who borrows about 4 to 6 books weekly. Unfortunately, I did not inherit this trait, as I hardly ever read books anymore. Shame on me!
And congrats, Louise! Yourappreciation for the written word is inspiring.
This is very cool, but I do secretly hope she occasionally borrows out books like A Brief History of Time and doesn't get around to reading them before returning them, like the rest of us.
@FrannyR: The smell of books in a library or bookstore is the best form of aromatherapy ever. I breathe in and feel instantly calmed but also excited by what I'm about to find. It's really kind of intoxicating. Damn, I'm jonesin' for a book smell fix right now.

the best movie scene was in beauty and the beast when the beast gave belle the library as a gift.
