"I have been going out with someone for six months but he lives and works abroad and I usually go and see him"
Possibly the daughter doesn't like being left home (alone?) I would be jealous too if my mom was off abroad with her wealthy boyfriend. And also lonely.
@alioop: Especially given that her mother's widowed - it's not even like she can go and stay with her dad. Which, talk about abandonment issues: your dad dies (some unknown amount of time ago, yeah), and then your mum starts visiting some guy abroad and just leaving you at home? I think it's a pretty normal reaction for a 15-year-old to dislike the guy who her mum is leaving her to visit.
Why would she want to take her daughter on vacation with her boyfriend? Can't she let her daughter do a summer study abroad program/camp or travel with friends? I would think the point of going to visit her BF in Italy would be to get away, screw your brains and eat some pasta and gelato. Or is this just me?
Jack Kerouac never actually helps. Why do you keep inviting him to the bagel brunches I imagine you have to get these quotes? He's a waste of schmere if you ask me.

Demi Moore: Fuck 'em. She's just jealous.
My mom: Your daughter's pissed about something. How about talking to her to figure out why she doesn't like the Prince of Medici?
