    I think it's awesome that these women are strong enough to play football, but this seems crazy from a safety standpoint. Professional football players (who are enormous) get hurt all the time, and they're in protective gear. Oh, and how the hell can you tackle someone in a bra and panties?

    @HighSchoolFearleader: I am not an expert on this by any means, but I think that playing football without that gear is fairly safe because you're limited by the potential damage your actual body--not a helmet--can inflict on other bodies. So basically, probably they'll get more like, bruises but fewer concussions and spinal cord injuries.

    But an expert on these things can feel free to correct me if that's wrong.

    i wonder if they have a competitive rivalry with the world bikini sports league, where at least the teams' names aren't innuendos. Case in point: The Seattle Emeralds.

    @ditriana: I have never heard of this before, and I'm trying to figure out where the Seattle team plays and practices. The lingerie team plays in Kent, for all those of you who were wondering. A girl I went to middle school with is on that one.

    Sure, I believe they can run plays and catch and throw and everything. But as the sister of a former high school football player, I can say that the real game is BRUTAL and people get hurt. That's why there are pads and helmets.

    Call me crazy but if I was going to be serious about playing a sport like this, I'd be going full-force-balls-to-the-wall with my running and tackles. So not only is this misogynistic, but it's unsafe. A bikini is not going to protect you from a concussion.

    My daughter's Powderpuff football team last year was "Victorious Secret." The seniors added "Pound Town" (is this common slang? if not - think "going to pound town" as a euphemism) to the sleeves.
