Oh, and as for the meat of the ad? Same bullshit, different era/body ideal. Imagine if all the women who bought this product had instead invested that money in Microsoft a few years later. Or, you know, invested it in a very good shrink. #wateon

I wish women could learn to love themselves no matter what they looked like. I know I sound really trite and this is somewhat off topic but it's been getting me down lately (or, since I was old enough to know what a calorie was).
Body shape/size just isn't that important in the real world. When I meet someone new, or hang out with my old friends, I never (literally, never) notice what their body looks like. I have no idea if any of my friends have big breasts/small breasts/big waists/small waists/big butts/small butts, etc, etc. I just do not notice. Unless they start complaining about their bodies and forcing me to comment on whether their ass is too jiggly or whatever. And even then I usually refuse to cooperate. Because it doesn't matter! No one cares what your body looks like! Unless they are incredibly superficial and shallow. In which case, they have serious issues of their own to deal with. #wateon

Worse yet was that her swimming class placed girls in suits color coded by their weight!
The largest girls worse black suits, navy blue for the bigger girls, red for the ideals and chartreuse for the sickly looking ones. My mom was a chartreuse and said she always wanted to be a red suit. Kinda funny that the girl in the ad is a red suit.
No matter what the era, we just can't win. #wateon

Did the boys wear colour coded swimsuits based on the size of their... ya'know... cuz that's a public service I can get behind. #wateon

That would be hysterical if the guys had to be color coded as well, hehe. But there was no co-mingling of the sexes in my mom's swim class. #wateon

Even when you take into consideration some variation is distribution, tiny waists have definitely been part of the beauty "ideal" for awhile now. Whether the ideal skews more curvy, or more slim, that seems to be the one constant for at least 100 years. It's almost like we expect the body to do "naturally" what used to be done via corset. #wateon

This sounds like just as much of a waste of money as the crazy diet pills of today do. #wateon

The recent retro dress trend is improving my life greatly- thanks Mad Men! #wateon

@colormeroutine: That's my body shape too! Sack dresses are the bane of my simultaneously busty and hippy existence... I feel like I'm wearing a tent. Being short certainly doesn't help. #wateon
