    @lermanzo: Eh, I rock some pretty flashy makeup with my business casual most days. It's a way to be playful with my appearance without breaking the "work appropriate" code. And I feel plenty pretty enough, with makeup, without makeup, with yesterday's makeup smeared under my eyes... And I could do without people making assumptions about my self esteem while I'm in line for my coffee.

    @BeckyIva: there are millions of ways to be playful with your appearance without breaking work appropriate codes.

    good for you for deciding you need to get up two hours early for work so you can be playful.

    i'm not saying it's a bad thing to wear makeup, but there comes a point where it does look absurd and a little desperate. especially during the work day.

    @lermanzo: Oook well perhaps we can agree to be grateful that we live in a country where we are free to dress and groom ourselves as we please, then. I never said it was the *only* way to be playful with my appearance, it's just a way that I happen to enjoy; I never spend more than 15 minutes on it, although if I did spend two hours, that would still be my business. And if anyone at work is distracted by my appearance (which seems unlikely), well, I think that's more their problem than it is mine. #michaellohan

    Carlo's (Cake Boss's bakery) cakes ARE delicious. And their Italian pastries are to die for. I have the extra ten pounds from working at a restaurant that was supplied by them to prove it.

    @Tchotchke: Ace of Cakes is great, but I LOVE Cake Boss too! Didn't you see the one where they made a zillion cannolis and stuffed them inside one GIANT cannoli and sold them for 25 cents each? AWESOME! I want to go to there! I might just like shows about cake. Plus, anything's better than J + K. Especially cake.

    @girlscoutcookie is back from hiatus: I actually haven't seen that episode! I guess it's just so heavily-scripted, so that kind of throws me a bit. My mom loves that show, however. I love Ace of Cakes because the banter between the people in the bakery is hysterical and clearly, it's just how they are. But you're right; anything is better than Jon and Kate.     @Tchotchke: I love "Ace of Cakes" too! What I don't understand though, is are the cakes actually any good to EAT?! It always seems like they are working on a cake for days, and this is after the actual cake part is baked....how can the cake test fresh?? I'm on team pie (yay!), but I still enjoy on occasion a moist, yummy piece of cake. Is it possible for a cake to be moist and yummy after sitting out for that many days and with that many layers of fondant on it though?? Curious.... #michaellohan

    @Monkey1979: My guess is that they are probably only working on the cake for a day or two. They probably make all the other structures out of fondant ahead of time, and then assemble the cake a day or two before. Because, you'll notice that if they are making a replica of the Taj Mahal, for example, they will construct most of the building in pieces first and then assemble it on the cake. That's my guess at least. #michaellohan

    @Tchotchke: I have to agree. Ace of Cakes is one of my most favorite shows on tv. I just want to go there and hang out with all of them and bask if the glow of their absolute coolness. And beg Mary Alice to be my best friend and we could go to roller derby matches together ...

    Of course, my absolute crush on Elena would probably only get worse. #michaellohan

    @tstreur: I think the reason I like the show so much is that the people seem likeable, funny and genuinely interesting. The employees clearly love their jobs and Duff has obviously made sure that he created a great work environment for them. Their cakes are beautiful and the show isn't trashy. It's nice to watch a show where at the end of each episode they talk about how amazing their coworkers' cakes were, as opposed to backstabbing one another. It's really unusual to see that on tv today. I know I sound like I'm going on and on, but I just always feel happy after watching that show. #michaellohan

    @rd2uk: That's actually the director of the first film who really wouldn't benefit much from the publicity of the next films of which she is not a part. (Unless we think about a boost to DVD sales of the first movie.) The thing is, we all assumed they weren't actually dating but all of Kristen's quotes as of late seem to indicate that they are. And it just kinda makes sense that when you're working around someone for 12 and 24 hours every day for years (ok, not always long days and obviously not every day) something might happen romantically.
