All I could think of when I read Cake Eaters was Mighty Ducks and how that was supposed to be an insult. I think I will do my best to bring it back.

@Easybreezy: Just remember to call her "Mary Stuart," not "Mary." She's firm on that. (Seriously.)

That's not where my mind thought a story called "Cake Eaters" would go. That's my slang term for wealthy suburbanite types, like OC Housewives, NoVA or Plano dwellers

Said by a person whose boyfriend hails from Carrollton, another, lesser suburb of Dallas monster.

Kristin Stewart is an interesting choice since she looks very much like Mary Stuart Masterson facially.

@lindsayweir: Exactly what I was thinking. And it brings to mind Jessica Tandy, Kathy Bates, Mary Louise Parker. How did one movie have such fine women? All of them strong, admirable and with career longevity. Someone needs to make another one.

@cupcakepaws: And it was commercially successful, imagine that! I grew up in Georgia and after watching Fried Green Tomatoes just about every week for a year, my mom finally took me down to the Whistle Stop Cafe in south Georgia.

I had a huge crush on MSM in college after seeing Some Kind of Wonderful for the first time. To this day, she's still a fine-looking woman.

@TheFormerJuneBronson: I've used Fried Green Tomatoes in a lot of English classes here in Spain. People here love the movie (small town life, living under a more or less fascist government...it hits the spot for folks here) and it's great for teaching. They go gaga over the accents, but mostly, love the fact that women rule in the movie.

@SarahHeartburn: Oh, that's fascinating! I never knew that it had such widespread appeal. I always think of it as a quintessentially American movie. It makes me cry, though. Last time I saw it, I was newly pregnant and away from my husband on my birthday. I was watching it on my laptop and sobbing my eyes out. My roommate thought something was really, really wrong; she was Malaysian and had never seen it.

The book is wonderful too; have you read it?

In other words: the actors walked all over her.

Actors are cattle. You need to herd them, and keep their egos in check, lest they wander off into an "impromptu" soliloquy.
