    F21 expanding into "housewares" doesn't sound like a good idea. Sure, girls will buy a shirt that falls apart after three washings, but they will not stand shoddily manufactured lamps.

    I was with Sophie on the cooking show until I read that one of the food/emotion combos was: "a solo dinner that suits melancholy."

    @angelheadedhipster: I doubt she'll do it better than MFK Fisher, who wrote brilliantly about food and emotions and dining alone...

    I did read an interview with Sophie Dahl all about her new book on cooking (the extracts I've read were phenomenally twee – describing some up-scale boutique hotel as " a little B&B in Ireland" etc), and the interviewer was strongly discouraged from asking her about her drastic weight loss. Also, she went on about how wonderful the food at the restaurant was, then didn't eat half of it. So I'm a little sceptical about Ms Dahl and food.

    @angelheadedhipster: So, more crepes, is it? (I am sorely tempted to go back to tastespotting.com to see if I can find Melancholy Tamales. Or hit the kitchen and get to working the lard and masa, because it sounds brilliant. And sad. I mean, what could be sadder than going through all the trouble of making tamales, with no one to share them with?)

    I think Eva as a model would be more groundbreaking than Eva as an actress- and let's be honest, she was never a real actress. The fact that she is 30+ and Latina is exciting all by itself since the modeling world is extremely ageist and not favorable to non-white models.

    Since Eva's in her 30s, I don't think modeling is her career future. In fact, didn't she model well before she started acting? Anyway, I love her, and she can act, and she's gorgeous, but I doubt that if she hadn't been an actress and celebrity first that the ageist fashion industry would want anything to do with her.


    But wow, that "transparent acting career" thing bugged me. Am I the only one?

    @annebreal: I don't remember Eva ever calling herself an Oscar caliber actress. I think she knows her range and takes parts accordingly. Not everyone is Meryl Streep and not every part calls for it. It didn't bug, I just took it as the poster's personal opinion.

    Hm. About the Kitson thing, aren't they right? If the store wants a ramp, which I'm not sure about NYC laws regarding them, can't they say they want the ramp to be wheelchair friendly? I would have thought that they would have had to have put one in a long time ago just to be up to code? I thought all stores had to be accessible?

    @Penny: it might depend on their occupancy load. smaller places aren't accessible sometimes but i don't imagine a kitson store is that small.
