    I like some of Bravo's programming but I HATE absolutely HATE what they've done to the online properties they've bought. Television Without Pity is a shell of its former awesome self.

    @Ricki: I think the recaps have gotten a lot softer. Additionally, a lot of the writers I really liked left because Bravo wasn't interested in paying them as well as they were paid when it was a hardscrabble internet property.

    Why are we accepting the idea of the double standard and that it's OK for a woman exec to be just as insensitive and humiliating as a male exec? Why can't we apply the "female" qualities we're accused of having to the workplace and expect everyone to be treated with a little humanity by men and women?

    @KillMeNow: What means "female"?-- to pretend to put up with Cohen's idiocy but be all nice and underminery and passive aggressive about it instead of straight up telling him he's losing his grip? Because I HATE THAT SHIT. Blunt honesty does have its place as well. And that guy can get very annoying.

    @Lizawithazee: I don't think nice has to equal underminery. She could have rejected his idea without rejecting his entire person (particularly since he thinks he's a cool-maker; I could give a shit about Andy Cohen in general).


    I'm just suggesting -- suggesting! -- that expecting women to be hard-ass in the workplace isn't any more fair than expecting them to be squishy.


    I call for a new paradigm. (I don't know what that means but I like the way it sounds.)

    @KillMeNow: Point taken. I don't expect women to be hard-ass. But it's okay with me if they are (within reason, when appropriate, and you know Cohen had it coming!).


    Let's call for a new parameceum. That's not quite as overused as paradigm and it will truly befuddle most people.

    So many networks come to prominence through innovative thinking and then flounder with repeats of the same, the same, the same when the same is no longer innovative. As a person trying to sell a couple of different TV shows, it's so frustrating.

    I liked Bravo better when they played art films and Actor's Studio episodes and interesting profiles on people like Margot Fonteyn and Bjork. Same as liking VH1 better when it was the nerdy music history channel.

    @beatrice2000: I liked VH1 better when it was the old VH1. All the 'cool kids' watched MTV but I always liked VH1 better until it became all the things I didn't like about MTV. VH1, you used to be cool, man, but you changed. You forgot who you were.

    @Hamsterpants: Me either! Not one single episode. I sat through one Amazing Race with a girlfriend once, but I just didn't get it.


    The Real Housewives, and anything involving Paris Hilton or Nicole Ritchie, just make me want to break my TV. They're so obnoxious that I can't enjoy breathing. Whatever the appeal, it's lost on me.

    I think Bravo's problem at this point is that they are stretching their brands out to the point where they don't mean anything anymore. It's the VH1 model: find a hit show, then produce 9092 spinoffs until everyone is so sick of the whole thing that it fails to become essential viewing.


    Also, Zalaznick was the exec producer of Pop Up Video AND Zoolander, and for that, she will always have my love.
