Perhaps, Piers Morgan, just perhaps everytihng women do ISN'T for men. For the record, there are not trembling female bodies littering England's streets. That, Piers Morgan, is some hyperbole. I read that story when I was waaaay to young and my mother bought me a dress for Thanksgiving dinner that was just like the one in the story and I spent the whole day thinking I was getting sicker and sicker and finally my mother was like, "Are you all right?" and I confessed that I was dying from embalming fluid poisoning and she laughed and laughed. As a rule, I'm getting bored with the intelligentsia marketing the exception as the rule in terms of empowered women in the sex trade. Although I have no doubt that there are many empowered women in the sex trade I also have no doubt that they are a vast minority. It is generally a bad thing to represent a multifaceted group as a monolith but I don't think it is unreasonable when the minority that does not conform to the generalization is apparently minuscule.

Throughout history, women have been treated as chattel, to be bought and sold, and now, because there are some empowered women in some nations, to hold them up as the example of sex work being female-positive only lends an air of acceptance to the sex trade, which, for the vast majority of sex workers around the globe, is not a choice by any stretch of the imagination.

I've always maintained that a boyfriend is safer in a strip club than he is at the laundromat. Or the office. Or the happy hour bar. As others have noted, strippers are *working* and the only thing they want to suck is the money out of his wallet.

Personally, I'm far happier in my sweats and glasses and feel far sexier in a boybeater and cotton panties. I'm happy to outsource the gyrating and grinding in ridiculous shoes and butt floss to the strippers and lapdancers. The club ladies can pay their tuition/rent, he gets to revel in the attention, and rather than busting my ass in the impossible task of trying to embody his every fantasy, I get to just be the woman he loves ... and fucks. Everyone wins!

I have the same debates about freedom as I see here, but that statistical correlation has always given me pause for thought.

Obviously stripping can be a rational choice for someone who doesn't have another way to earn that much money and have the flexible schedule. Just because it is rational doesn't mean it isn't also a somewhat degrading way to make a living. Basically your success in your job depends on how well you can get some sleazy guys off. Life is hard and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get by, but it is not a job I would recommend for my friends and relatives. I think you would have to be pretty strong psychologically to do that year after year and not start to see yourself as an object.
