Now, the heartburn and barfing, that I blame on pregnancy.

Now I'm doing as well in grad school as I did before I had the kid, but I don't often feel as creative as I did before. I used to have insight. Now, not so much.

I was tired and spaced out all the time. I was losing things all the time and lost my train of thought constantly. This may not be a phenomenon in all women's experiences, but it sure as shit was mine.

@Leucadia: ha, again thankfully I can't imagine anything that would have upset my mother more than having to invite my friends round to her house for a party. Hey my misanthropy is inherited you know, my mother is the woman whose sole contribution to my wedding plans was to turn up, oh and to ask if I had nice flowers and did I really want to wear five inch red mohair shoes? Other than that she was very hands off. And has remained so through one and half babies plus three grandkids on my sister's side.

I'm having a bridal shower next weekend and not looking forward to having everyone stare at me as I open presents/read cards. Is it rude to abstain from opening gifts in front of people?

Last year, we did a blindfolded "guess the baby paraphernalia" game and that was fun, because everyone was yelling "NIPPLE!" for 5 minutes.

When I was pregnant with child unit #1 my company actually expected me to work until I went into labaor, which entailed driving across two states to get to my hospital. NO way was I going to risk labor on the Capitol Belway.

Also, it was really fun trying to finish up the revisions to a fairly complicated manuscript during that time! I'd have to read sentences 10 or 20 times sometimes to make sure they were saying what I wanted them to say.
