re: Hilary: If she really didn't say that to Elle then, the way Scarlett claims she didn't say anything to Cosmo, then she might not have wanted to say anything back then. Because, if they made it up and she issued a correction, wouldn't that imply that she wasn't a virgin? And she might not have wanted that implication out there, whether or not it was true. Or she might have just really thought, it's none of anyone else's business. Therefore, she might have legitimately wanted to ignore it and not rebut it back then.
As to why she's bringing it up now though...yeah, attention's all I got.
@elisa: There's a blind item that I think is about her...something about the ex-boyfriend of a squeaky clean starlet threatening to come out with some nasty little tidbits about her...That;'s my guess as to the nowhere this came from!
I always thought that you stopped breast feeding when the bebeh started cutting teeth? Since, you know, bloody, savaged nipples don't seem like a whole lot of pleasant. At least that's what I thought. It seems, however that plenty of mums go on doing it well into toddler-hood. But 5 years old?? I can't get my head around that. There are plenty of different ways to bond with your youngins, no? I've never had a kid, so I'm no expert, obviously. As far as the whole sleb virginity thing, pleh. I'm sick of hearing about who is and who isn't and who might be and who wears a friggin' promise ring.
@BlondeGoddess: I hate it so much. Facing reality? Um, so what's plastic and fake is more real than what happens without surgical intervention. RIP Baudrillard! Page Six is king.
Given that I'm pretty sure that most people don't take naked photos of their family, what does this mean? Might we see leaked pictures of her kids playing Candy Land or something?
I think my mind is just too dirty for the word intimate to ever be used in a non-sexual way.
@hortense: But Eva Amurri, Moosam Morandan's spawn, is also an ingenue! I feel like it's not Demi Moore, because she has SO already had a facelift. I would say either Streep or Sarandon for the BI win!
@Jessica: This is true! And I agree with you about Demi Moore, totally. So it's either Streep or Sarandon. Unless it's Pfeiffer. Are her kids acting yet?
@Jessica: "who has a daughter now getting ingenue roles, is facing reality"
I think the 'now' part of that rules out Moldie and Memi since both of their daughters have been in the spotlight for some time now. And since Beryl is on a press tour for _Doubt_, I can't imagine she was able to get the work done last week, as the BI suggests. That leaves us with Moosan.
I can't believe I just expended that level of effort to puzzle this out. Clearly, I'll do anything to avoid grading papers. Maybe I should procrastinate productively by cleaning my apartment or making soup from scratch.
I am all for woman breastfeeding longer than a few months, maybe the idea of it helping get rid of some weight will entice others to breast feed for two years (which is awesome of her). Just like how a lot of people put on sunblock to avoid wrinkles as opposed to cancer.
Dude, Oprah just needs her own channel already. It can show reruns of Oprah, the Big Give, Beloved and anything else Oprah has ever touched. And I will watch it when I am home with the flu.
@Mkp-hearts-NYC: Doesn't she HAVE her own channel called....OWN? (Oprah Winfrey Network) Very ironically titled. But of course that goes without saying.
It's sad that it's good marketing for a young woman to claim she's a virgin and also good marketing for a slightly older woman to claim she's way into sex.
If that's not a mixed message, I'm not sure what is.
@drunkexpatwriter: Yes. And it is fucking weird that Hilary Duff's/Britney Spears'/Miley Cyrus' virginity or lack thereof is a topic of conversation at all. FUCKING WEIRD.
Leaving aside the fact that no one asks Shia La Beouf or Robert Pattinson whether or not they're virgins...even if this wasn't restricted to girls, it's creepy and wrong.
@missbitchy: Either way, the Page 6 article was just unnecessarily nasty. The WHO recommends women breastfeed at least 2 years, so there is nothing wrong with her still breastfeeding, but Page 6 certainly thinks there is.
@GoodBadNotEvil: To be fair, the WHO's recommendations on this topic are primarily concerned with preventing infant malnutrition in underdeveloped countries -- I'm pretty sure Kelly Rutherford's 2 year-old would be fine without mama's milk. But hey, if it works for her and keeps her thin, why not? (Semi-joking on the thin part, but hey, she is an actress, and she can stay thin by doing something healthy...)
@GoodBadNotEvil: I'm really impressed that she's able to nurse for 2 years while working outside of the home. Granted, I'm sure she can bring her kids on the set but damn. That's some hard work. Why can't someone do an article on that aspect?
@missbitchy: Full disclosure - I breastfed minisparks for TWO AND A HALF years. Granted, by the end, she was also eating broccoli, brown rice, chickpeas, etc...not solely my boobie milk.
She was a premee & I wanted to make sure she was strong and healthy. However, when my college reunion came up, me & my best friend were going to drive to the mid-west.
So we decided THAT was a good time to ween. Mama went off to drink profusely with my old friends on Ohio and minisparks was none the wiser. Never went for the milk again.
I, however, suffered greatly, as I forgot to bring the pump, for pumping and dumping. Squeezing my breast milk into the sink in the Citgo gas station in PA was, well, a bonding experience like no other for me and BFFsparks.
@EdnasEdibles: I'm totes for breastfeeding as long as possible, at least in theory. But I was on a commuter rail in Boston last summer, and I saw an adorable 3 year old looking at the window and say "Hey Momma!" I thought he was going to tell her something about the travels-- oh no, then he ran to her boob and screamed "MILK!!" It was a bit tough to swallow-- hehe-- but in spite of my squeamishness I WILL remain committed to breastfeeding as long as possible when I have my own kids. I hope.
@Kshine: I went to kindergarten with a girl who's mother breastfeed her three kids until 5 or 6. I went to her house after school one day and was served some cookies; Lia climbed on her mother's lap and undid her blouse.
I hope to breastfeed my kids as well, but not that freaking long.
@Kivrin: I'm going to disagree here...human mother's milk is MADE for human children. It has the nutrients and things they need for proper brain development. Formula is not "normal", neither is cow's milk...they are acceptable if necessary, but SO not preferable.
I know some people have their own problems, but I nursed my girl a little past the age of 2 (not for the whole of her sustenance, no...the schedule changes) and she is all the awesomer for it.

My measurement was when minisparks began to request "boobies", I figured that was just going to the wrong place.
(She also pulled them out at any given time, which is not ok on the subway. Or IS, depending on who was riding with us.)
