    Dear Joanna Lumley,

    You're a wonderful actress. Yes, it's true that we "crones" can't expect to play young lead roles in movies. However, I respectfully disagree that we should just go quietly.

    I think there should be more roles for older female actors. Now, how do we go about changing that?

    Oh Chris Brown, is it unfair for you to go on an interview tour trying to rehabilitate your image by saying "sorry about that night" and yet not talk about that night? It's not fair to you or Rihanna? I'd say it's a bit more unfair to her, if you ask me. See, privacy tends to shoved to the side when there's a police report detailing exactly what you did.

    Abusers aren't accountable. That is one of the few sweeping generalizations I can make about them. Almost all of them say something to the effect of "I just lost it. I don't remember what happened. I just snapped." A good response: "But you didn't kill her, right? So you were in control, to some extent." And also, you cant point out that they don't hit other people when they get really angry with them, just their partners.
    I wish that the "domestic violence movement" had enough money to just put forward an educational statement every time Chris Brown says something like this. Because now, everyone is still believing the old stereotypes about it. "She just made him so angry that he snapped and blacked out" and "He has anger management issues, he just needs to see a therapist."

    @apricotsquish: Actually I'm not sure that "but you didn't kill her" argument would work with Brown; as someone else pointed out on this site (hatepaperdoll maybe?), the only reason she's NOT dead is that she was wearing her seatbelt.

    He had technical issues, not restraint.

    Personally I'd prefer to see a no more CB news blanket policy for the Internet but somehow I suspect that will remain a pipe dream.

    Still, I can't help but think that even if we discuss him to talk about how much we dislike him, we're still talking about him, which is halfway to a triumphant comeback. Which he doesn't deserve.

    @apricotsquish: Please keep in mind that California's Governor made a sweeping cut of all domestic violence funding. Seems harsh considering that state had two of the most high profile domestic violence cases this year. Rihanna and Jasmine Fiore.

    I think that it's good that Chris Brown is going on this redemption tour because if it can help one person that recognizes themselves in his story, it will bring more attention to the issue of domestic abuse.

    Tia and Tamera - the twin shtick didn't fly when you were 16, and it's not gonna fly now. Then, it was billed as hijinks. At this point, it's just sad and it makes everyone uncomfortable.

    Also, I can't believe that someone has made Eminem's take on his ex look classy in comparison. And that is saying a LOT.
