    I just introduced Mr. Pietra to Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. Somehow, he had never seen it or heard of it before. It's on DVD now, though slightly butchered (no Kermit voiceover or intro, sadly. Stupid Henson kids!)

    I just learned this year that Oscar has an Israeli cousin named Moishe Oofnik, which means Moishe the complainer. He's my new favorite.

    Elmo showed up at my husband's work to appear on a radio show last year.


    Now, the guy who puppets Elmo and does his voice didn't just do his thing. Elmo was brought out. He was set up. He had his own mic. And he conducted the interview, fully animated. THIS IS RADIO.


    Elmo even would turn around and wave to all the newsroom dorks lined up the studio window to watch him.


    Elmo is very friendly. He likes to make friends.

    I'm a kermit fan. I love the scene in the muppet movie when Kermit asks a very very young Steve Martin to taste the wine for him and miss piggy. SO GREAT!

    It's funny that Jezebel ran a Muppets post today, I watched a few of Jim Henson's early experimental films ("The Cube" and "Time Piece") from the 60's yesterday. None of them involve muppets and they're both damn surreal.
