    I actually really dig Josie Loren's dress. She could have gone the traditional LBD route, but she kicked it up a bit. I'd rock it.

    that 'fedora' is actually a a 'trilby'. There's a difference Sadie!! And for some reason, I find trilby's offensive, whereas fedora's remain classic.

    I'm wondering why you chose to focus on Brattany Curan's hair, when that neon amoeba-influenced dress is threatening me with it's nuclei.

    Did the world really need a burned velvet knock-off Unikko (aka Marimekko poppies) print dress? Maija Isola is rolling over in her grave.

    @colormeroutine:
    i don't know, i'm guessing they wanted to wear the heels. i mean i was 12 (back in 1972!) and i wanted (and did) wear 2 1/2 inch heels. of course i had a headache that night. but really, it's not so weird. it's a dress-up occasion, and to kids this age, i'm sure heels = dressup. flats at this age would make them feel babyish.

    @msAnthrope: Yes, but those don't look like little girl starter heels. Everything about their outfits are adult in miniature. That's what's freaking me out (damage being done to their ankles aside)

    @wankster: My 12 year old niece is begging to wear heels to her mom's wedding (2nd wedding - to clarify). Ballet flats and band-aids will be furtively tucked away in my bag for the 3rd hour, when said niece has blisters.

    @battleaxonista...is a humorless bitch: They can pry my fedora and bowler hat from my cold dead hands! Hats are awesome! Of course, they are more awesome when they're not a trend douchebags across America are participating in, but I digress.

    Sadie, you echoed the words that I say whenever I see inappropriately dressed young ladies: Don't these kids have parents? Because honestly, my mother would have locked me in a closet before she let me out of the house in some of these get-ups.

    @badmutha: Isabelle Fuhrman, Malese Jow, Ryan Newman and Jadagrace all looked age appropriate. I can't hate on mermaid dresses, coordinating sweaters and sun dresses and sensible sandals.
    Noah Cyrus is age appropriate for a kindergarden tap recital. The rest of the group leaves me troubled and confused.

    I actually love Noah Cyrus's outfit, but she might be a little embarrassed in a couple months that her parents let her wear that.
    So, thanks Krista Texeira (and Sadie) for letting me know about the mixed textile trend. I like it. As per the title of this post, I'm a little embarrassed that a 12 year old is more current with the trends than I am, but nothing a nice glass of prune juice won't help.

    Sadie: you're old-fashioned. The Cyrus parents and I have also long since parted ways. She is a lovely little girl that did not need to be allowed to wear that dress or, horrors, have it chosen for her. It's not you - it's them.
