    I saw Revolutionary Road this weekend. So fucking bleak. Sadly, not her best work. Leo was slightly better. But she will get nominated, of course. I really want to see The Reader, now, though.

    What a relief! I was feeling guilty because I love her but I didn't want to feel obligated to see "a miserable movie about miserable people being miserable."


    There is so much cultural pressure to go see meticulously crafted huge-downer flicks.

    @Treeless: See, I love downer flicks! Ain't nothing wrong with being super-depressed about a well-made movie. But this wasn't well written, not particularly well-acted... the characters just SAID everything the viewer should have been thinking. there was no subtlty, depth, or any real substance.
