I know that what he did was wrong and there is nothing that can justify what he did, but watching the Jay Leno interview made me realize that, when it comes down to it, this is all because Kanye just really misses his mom.
I mean that in all sincerity. I think what he did was kinda like the way people "act out" when they need help. It is never really a rational act or anything and many times its fueled by alcohol - which, according to everyone, Kanye had a bit too much of that night.
When Jay asks him what his mom would think I almost thought hulu was 'rebuffering' ... he took that long to respond. His body language and general demeanor were of someone very uncomfortable with talking about what had happened and then, when his mom is brought up, it got even worse. It got sad.
I know Kanye is an asshole, and Taylor Swift did not deserve that and I'm not trying to cover for him, but I think he's really struggling with losing his mother.
@EltonJorts: LBJ had a way with words. He once said to the Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson "Don't you come into my living room and piss on my rug!"
Am I the only one actually disturbed by President Obama’s comments on Kanye West leaking out? That shows a major lack of respect on whoever was recording it & presumably sold it to TMZ.
Off the record means exactly that. No Twiiter or Facebook updates. Twitter has turn snitching into an all time high.
………and please let this Kanye/Taylor thing die. He apologized, she accepted, move on.
@Arosci: No, you're not alone. I totally agree with you. If reporters can't keep things that their sources and interviews say 'off the record', then they're not very professional people that don't deserve to be in the industry.
@Arosci: sort of agree, had he said something like "i want him dead by sundown," then i say LEAK LEAK LEAK!
but shit that just doesn't matter, like this, should be kept private so that not only megalomaniacs will run for president.
@homovegetarian: And Rahm Emmanuel murmurs 'I hear and obey' and slips away into the shadows and the next morning Kanye's stiffening corpse is found bowed backwards over a ballet barre!
I hope people don't overreact about this. Remember Bush/Cheney and the "major league asshole" comment?
And really, Kanye is a jackass. Can we please get over it now? The President might as well have said "the sun is f***ing hot" and manure "smells like sh*t"
@rocknrollunicorn: Do you think we can get this combined with a tape of Rahm doing his version of a Christian Bale rant (aimed at birthers and the 9/12 idiots)? Cause that would make my day.
@curiousgeorgiana: That would be ideal, though I'd even accept a remix of Christian Bale's original rant with a few Obama "jackass"s thrown in at opportune times. I'd do it myself if I knew how.
Guys, seriously. This is NOTHING compared to what Lyndon Johnson used to say, and is QUOTED saying. He was more imaginatively scatological and offensive than you can imagine. I wonder why the media likes to make a big deal of it when Obama says something non-presidential...hmmm.
@Mary McCarthyite: because lyndon johnsons every quote didnt spread on the internet like a virus on speed to be read/listened to by every ninny with an internet connection!
@Mary McCarthyite: Very true. And let's not forget this iconic image of Vice President Nelson Rockefeller responding to a heckler. The media needs to quit with the kerfluffles over nothing, already.
@MeganGlass 就是一个古代的三明治: Exactly. Johnson was fond of peppering his speech with (among MANY other words): "jackass," "balls," and "bitch." These are things that were quoted by the press and that the American people would have read.
i really wish his comment hadnt leaked. and i really really wish the audio bit hadnt leaked. i heart the president but i dont think its particularly presidential of him to be calling folk jackasses (i know he was off the record so its ok by me, i just wish itd stayed out of the media!). its just gonna give crazy folk more stuff to bitch at him for.
and, if he was gonna comment on pop culture events, i wish hed made a comment about chris brown instead. HE deserves a presidential put down.
@rd2uk: The thing is, the Obama girls may well have been watching the show. If, as a responsible parent, he discusses the TV that his kids watch, that's pretty damned cool in my book.
