"I was never a feminist because I was never ugly enough for that."
During his last renovation, it was noted that Lagerfeld had had all the mirrors in his palatial house removed.
"Fawning sycophants are enough," said Karl, nodding sagely.
I don't get the point of channeling Chanel via Lagerfeld. I would imagine someone at some point wrote down what she actually said, could we not, like, research that?
Also, Lagerfeld really needs to shut his piehole. Remember who buys your clothing, Karl darling. Women. And lots of them are (gasp!) feminists. If you really just want to make yourself so repulsive women won't want to buy your clothes, then you're doing a fine job. Please, carry on.
. . . So that's Karl Lagerfeld's job? To impersonate Coco Chanel in interviews? This is somehow more confusing than when I thought his job was to wear vampire-chic clothes and swan about, scaring socialites.
Wait, Steve Madden sued other designers for knocking THEM off? That's very shocking. I keep waiting to hear that Jimmy Choo is suing Steve Madden. Seems most Steve Maddens themselves are just pricier knockoffs.
@greengrey: Actually, it was a little more complicated than that. Madden sued, I believe, eBay for selling articles produced by a licensee after that license had lapsed. But last week they dropped the charges.
@No Day Like Friday: That shocked me, too. Fortunately it sounds like he played it off with a non-sequitor answer. MK shows that his clothes are then only think he keeps classy.

@SevenNationArmy hates David Yates: The Hollister store is at the corner of Broadway and Houston - there are stores everywhere. I'm not sure why this one in particular is raising so much ire.
@BlondeGoddess: I'm just saying, I don't think it was her commitment to fashion journalism that got her the job - she's pretty young, and probably has been pretty busy with the modelling to take much professional interest in the subject.
@birdywaa: I agree that her role as a top model helped her get the role, but it makes a change from having the likes of the Geldoff girls getting similar kinds of plum gigs JUST because of who their parents are. Besides, it is well known (at least in the UK) that a lot of famous guest columnists in magazines are ghosted because the celebrity cannot string a sentence together in real life, let alone sit down and write one out.
I was all ready to trash the blah-ness of the AA bedding - available in white and grey! - but then I read that it's made of the same material as their t-shirts, and now me wanty.

@greengrey: Steve Madden has to sue other designers, so they can afford to settle lawsuits filed against them.

What other kind of person could be asked that question and not feel totally violated?
(Also: what if he doesn't have anal sex?)
Can you imagine Vanity Fair asking, say, DVF whether she liked regular or reverse cowgirl?
Or is gay sex so wound up in identity politics as to make this an integral factor of any real interview of a gay man?
