I am a Canadian who loves some American programming. I use a program called hotspot shield to watch hulu and other websites that hate me for my foreignness.
It gives you an American IP address for a while so that the website will think you are in the states. Sketchy? perhaps, but I recently started watching Friday Night Lights, and for most episodes Hulu is the only place to watch it! so in the words of JT in that mother lover sketch, if I'm wrong then I dont want to be right.
It frustrates me so much that Lorne Michaels won't let me, living abroad, see these clips, especially because two of my friends did the beats and production for that Motherlover song. If he weren't responsible for so much hilarious comedy I would loathe him.
@Hiroine Protagonist: I think it was more a wink at all the gay rumors--he was just saying "Fuck it. If you think that, I'm fine with it." He's clearly having fun fucking with people's heads in that regard.
@Hiroine Protagonist: By the time it was on last night, I was wicked drunk, so tonight I'll re-watch the skits and pick up all the stuff I picked up last night and promptly forgot.
I never did understand the Justin Timberlake phenomenon. Now I've watched the immigrant video, and I get it. I really, really get it. I never get to watch SNL because I work Saturday nights, so thank you so much for posting this!
@Habibiti: Try to find other clips from his past host gigs. He's hysterical every time. One of my personal favorites was a Punk'd parody (I think it was the first time he hosted, in 2003) when he did a SPOT ON Ashton Kutcher.
@Sookie Stackhouse: yeah- but i knew that was going to come up. as soon as i could tell where 'cornelius' was going with it, i knew they'd have to work britney in somehow. and that look on his face when he said it was priceless.
really, i think if britney saw ii, she'd probably laugh. i don't think she's above self depricating humor at this point. and timberlake did make the point of confronting the gay jokes on his behalf- which sort of puts it in perspective. very very little is sacred on SNL. that's gotta be the point, (espesh w/ skits like these, that single out ethnicities-) there are already lines being crossed; why not cross em all?
@JessaFields: yeah i guess that what i hated about the whole thing when it first happened, they were only teens and she was his first, why air it if she wasn't comfortable with it. I mean if they're cool with each other now and given they're much older it would have been a cool dig but i don't exactly think they have that kind of relationship now for him to go there. I know it's SNL and all but seemed a bit douchy.
I laughed so hard at the Star Trek sketch last night. I never thought I would hear Leonard Nimoy say the word dickhead. (I think he's really enjoying himself at all these press events and interviews and appearances!)
