And I wouldn't say that we are done either. We will keep exploring different ways to have a family I think." In addition, her son, an Obama supporter, is upset with the President: "He has expressed pride in Obama, although he has also expressed to me that he is unhappy at how much Obama is on television." They have got him so locked up. I know myself and Michael [Jordan have] been trying to get to him and we just want to tell him: 'Hey, man, we love you and you are our friend.' You need to know in times like this you have got friends. I am so pissed that they have got him holed up. He is a 33-year-old grown man. He did something wrong to his wife. Now, he goes to the gym in corduroy trousers, a shirt and a cravat, I promise you. He's there, walking along on the machine." On Sarah Jessica Parker: "I hate almost everyone, and I really like her… Who would have thought a girl that size could eat that much? I've never seen anything like that in my life. She's half-girl, half-locust. Same with facts. She loves facts, the dullest facts. 'So you drive an Audi. What's special about that engine?' She remembers every detail." Also, he almost quit acting: "Doing Music and Lyrics, I had all these panic attacks. They're awful. I freeze like a rabbit. Can't speak, can't think, sweating like a bull. He kept setting up screenings of The Terminator for them, and they wouldn't show up. Over the course of the shoot, they learned who they were dealing with. Jim's actually a nice guy. <![CDATA[Drew Discusses Rollerderby Movie Directorial Debut]]> Drew Barrymore is on the cover of Time Out: New York's new photo issue, which features pictures of NYC taken by celebrities. In an interview, Drew talks about her directorial debut Whip It and participating in "female fight club."

For the new issue, Time Out New York sent disposable cameras to 83 famous New Yorkers and asked them to send back their photos, which you can check out here. Drew's photos focus on summer in Manhattan and Brooklyn. She says she asked people's permission before taking photographing them explaining:

I do wish that was the way people treated me when it comes to photography. It's more like, "Can you bend over? We're about to anally probe you."

When Drew is complimented on the bow tie she's wearing during the interview she says:

It's my new thing! It makes me happy. It can definitely go asshole, but it can also be a fabric smile.

As for working behind the camera, her other new thing, Drew says she chose to direct Whip It, a film about roller derby, because:

I relate to a theme of it: women who have not only an alter ego but a capability. I love these women who totally have day jobs-they're nurses and librarians and waitresses... What I love about the sport is that it's real and high stakes. And by the way, it's scary as shit to do. I wouldn't have guessed that the first film I directed would have a sports element, but then again it doesn't surprise me, because I love girls getting to do what boys do... I love when [women] get to be women and not feel like they have to become a man in order to play in a man's world.

As for what it was like bossing other people around, Drew says:

Well, I've always found that I tend to rebel against authority. I wanted to throw myself in there so I could really go through what the girls were going through. I didn't want to be that guy who said, "Just get in there." I hate that-I hate dictatorship, I hate hierarchy, I hate sidelines.

Drew got so involved that she actually showed up to the interview with bruises on her arms, but she says she didn't get them from roller derby:

Well, we also had female fight club. We discovered at a bar one night that I definitely have that, like, feisty little boy inside of me, and when I drink he comes out.

And of course, no Drew Barrymore interview would be complete these days if she wasn't asked about her on again/off again relationship with Justin Long. Drew doesn't seem to understand entirely it herself:

We're friends, and we love each other, and that's all we know.
