That blog was so well-written and realistic. Sometimes when people get into treatment, they act as if everything has been fixed. But nothing is ever fixed. It's a hard process and it takes effort to recover from any addiction.

Just read her full post and.. wow. Such a talented writer and I saw my (old) self alot in her words. About falling asleep during every movie - that was me. My body couldn't stay awake with what little nutrients I was giving it. I almost forgot about that detail of my sickness.

Anyway... I hope she gets better soon. It's a long road but it can be done! Go Juliana.

My god. I haven't thought about her in years. I even forgot to put her on my iPod and I've all kinds of crap on my iPod. I've got Andy Taylor's solo work on my iPod. Wasn't her mom a model? I wonder if that had any effect on her even though she's beautiful too. Always has been.

And if the kids need schooling to her and some of the references being made...

@Archetype: Same here! That's a staple in my christmas watching list. I can sing her song the whole way through.

Also I always laughed when Graham said "Yeah, I know where that's at". Just always seemed odd to me.

Side note: I wish her the best of luck. And am so happy she's coming out with her struggle. The more people talk about it, the less it's hidden. That's why I talk about my ED (3 years recovered!) even when people don't want to hear about it.

@Archetype: gah! I was a wreck. Thinking about it now even gets me. God forbid I watch the clip!

I wish her success and comfort in her own skin. Maybe someday soon, she can look out the window on a Sunday morning and see the sun as bright as it has ever been.

Also, a heart that hurts is a heart that works.....that hits way too close to home for me. I've been on Prozac for a year now and I don't really feel anything anymore, in terms of pain. And I miss it. A lot. That's a scary thing to live with.

@Archetype: I hear you, sweetie. Zoloft did the same thing to me, for awhile -- especially when my life got crazy and doc upped my dose. Maybe you could get by with a lower dose? Might help you feel a bit more.

@Archetype: ugh! truly? I was just given a prescription of Fluox last week and I've been staring at the bottle every morning - too afraid to take it.

I've done this before (three times to be exact) and its why I am still living with depression.

@Archetype: I missed it too. As much as I hate to say it, I sometimes enjoy my depression. I guess it goes along with other types of mental illness...if you have your misery/depression, you have something. It's such a bizarre and destructive relationship within the self.

@rasnotraz: for me its a matter of doing it for my husband, not myself; my depression causes him so much worry and sadness. I could probably live a solitary life and be fairly ok with it as I'm not regularly suicidal.

I'll probably still stare at the bottle tomorrow and hope for some courage to take a pill.

"Universal Heart-Beat" was one of those songs that helped me (barely) get through depression as a teen, and I lost track of how many times I blared it in my room. Love, love, love her and I'm wishing her nothing but the best. I blogged a tiny bit when I was in inpatient treatment for anorexia and it was helpful. I hope it's the same for her.

This woman is my personal hero. She inspired me to pick up a guitar and give voice to my innermost self. Her songs are horribly self deprecating, tough and strong, but ultimately beautiful. I am so very happy that she is showing signs of loving herself. "Through the smoke I hear a sound, through the music from my brain to my mouth..."

@Archetype: @rosasparks: New York Times had an article about it a few months ago. I think she had written a book about her experiences over the years which I could not bring myself to buy due to the nerve it hits in me. She's one of my favorites and I am rooting for her.
