    Y'all. No one should use that word. Not in jest, or anywhere else. It's a subtle slur at trans people. I don't care how progressive your personal attitude towards trans people is, if you find that slur being tossed around funny, you need to reconsider your position.

    True. Although, I'd add that trans people have the right to reclaim the word. Obviously there will be differing opinions on whether that is a good idea but it's not for cis people to decide.

    It's not so much funny as a subversive way of showing bigots that even their beloved icons may fit under the GLBTQ umbrella. I know that's obvious to some, but I felt the need to have that before saying: It can be a really oppressive word with violent implications, and I think in a lot of situations those with cisgender privilege shouldn't use it -- or joke about this. Yes, ol' Bugsy is funny but (at the risk of sounding self righteous) I hope these comments won't degenerate into LOL MTFZZZZ or anything. It's hard to tell when it's ironic or not, and as racialious.com once said about hipster racism, irony isn't necessarily an excuse for bigotry...

    The Loony Tunes "What's Opera, Doc?" is seriously a masterpiece. Bugs Bunny is in drag for part of it, not sure that makes him a tranny, but anyway. The cartoon is so funny.
