    The news about Angelina collapsing is sad, predictable and infuriating all at once: sad, because she appears to be borderline anorexic; predictable, because in the last few years, it became obvious her shape was not just her 'natural' build (judging by pictures from earlier in her career); and infuriating that people continue to hold her up as some kind of ideal of feminine beauty.

    @Diziet_Sma: ahhh - you said it and I didn't think anyone would, b/c we get in big trouble around here when we comment on people's size/weight - but is HEALTH the same thing? She really has disappeared over the years, so she isn't just one of those poor dears with genetic TB - i.e. naturally stick-like...she has always been slim, but not like this...
    Hortense, can we comment on it when it is seemingly a health issue like this? I just got mee star & don't want it revoked!


    I still think she is really beautiful, but "exhaustion" isn't sexy on anybody...it's scary.

    @femputer: The fact that she collapsed just pushed me over the edge - I am not criticizing her body shape; I am criticizing the fact that she is fawned over as The Most Beautiful Woman In The World by all and sundry, including, on occasion, Jezebel commentors.

    @Diziet_Sma: It's true. I found the ads for her last few movies to be very disturbing because she looks so ill. I am a fan of Ms. Jolie and her dedication to human rights, it breaks my heart to see her so frail.

    @Diziet_Sma: Did you ever think the pictures from earlier in her career were not her natural build? The woman has ALWAYS had skinny arms and legs, and a long torso. She was bigger in Croft, and admitted she packed on the muscle for it. She hardly looked "borderline anorexic" in the latest shots we've seen while filming Salt, and a gossipy report online does not mean its accurate.

    @ElleL: I just don't think so...she looked really beautiful and healthy for years, and her voluptuosness used to extend beyond her lips. Like I said, she was always slim (the arms, legs, etc. that you speak of), but her bones were all I could see in Wanted. It isn't like we only saw a few pictures of her earlier in her career (which could be photoshopped, odd angles, whatever) - in Firefox, Gia, Hackers; she had curves on that slim frame.

    @ElleL: though, to be fair, I do know many women who inadvertently lose mad weight after kids b/c they are constantly running around and never get time to sit and really have a big meal. And girl does have some kids! I think we (the ones of us who have agreed so far in this frame) weren't body-snarking - just expressing concern for someone who doesn't sound like she can run without collapsing, and that is scary. Concern comes from a nice place, not a hateful one...

    @ElleL: Just to clarify, I said she "appears to be borderline anorexic" and I'm basing that on the (yes, gossipy - but repeated here on Jezebel for us to comment on, no?) report that she doesn't eat on set and has collapsed; I'm not basing it on any photos. I haven't seen any. My use of "appears" was meant in the usual sense of 'gives the impression of', rather than the literal. I am not saying she is anorexic, I'm saying - based on these reports, she is giving the impression of behaving like someone who may be suffering from anorexia. And if she is, she has my sympathy, that's why I said it was sad. I am NOT bashing her.

    @ElleL: PLUS, it is a universal truth, acknowledged by countless actresses, that their job requires them to restrict their dietary intake. This is what I am ultimately infuriated by. We are all complicit, including me.

    I saw the an interview with Reese where she talked about how lame her kids think she is and I see now that she is doing everything possible to make them *facepalm* as much as possible.


    I hated when my mom did that to me but I love watching other mothers do that to their daughters. Just imagine it: "Mawwwwwwwwwwm! I canNOT believe you said 'drops' GAWD how lame can you be!"
