Yeah, y'all all think this is adorable until you have six girls like this in class that think it's cute to respond like this NO MATTER WHAT THE TEACHER SAYS.

She's from my high school, and this is what the girls do. Just watching the back and forth with the doctor is enough to make my head explode and remind me why I took so many engineering/math classes (more boys, less flighty girls). Though I do give her kudos for repeatedly saying 'vagina' on tv.

Amusing as a late night tv sketch? Yes. Amusing while you're trying to actually learn in biology? No.

Aren't most of them Ivy Leaguers as well? So I need to go back in time and grow a penis, then go to Harvard.

It's becoming painfully obvious lately that Conan has no female writers. Well, he's always done this but only in the past couple of years has it really started annoying me. Last night, top of the show: Kirstie Alley fat joke! Oh really, Conan? WTF? He's a smart and funny guy, and I don't know why his writing staff keeps relying on lazy fat jokes or "Larry King is old" jokes. Did one of them get rejected by Kirstie Alley for prom or something? It's really fuckin' old already.

I think Jezebel should produce its own late-night show. Call it The Vagina Hour.

The only late night show I used to watch on a semi regular basis was Conan. Then I realized that many of his jokes fall back on sexist ideologies to be used as a punchline and saw humor in things that really aren't funny (he made jokes about women in India being forced to farm naked because of the drought, in order to "embarrass" the rain gods. A month later when news reports said that the drought was then "forcing" families to sell their daughters Conan didn't say a peep about it). Conan is no longer welcome in my living room. #davidletterman

Come ON, ladies. Have a sense of humor. Can't you see that the near absence of women in comedy writing jobs is hilarious? Sheesh. Comedy shows are just engaging in one of those Family Guy-style laugh fests where they make fun of sexism/racism by doing or saying something sexist or racist. It just has a really long set-up. But man, when you hear the punch line, you're gonna laugh so hard you jizz in your pants. Er. Something. #davidletterman

I have recurring dreams that I discover that I've been hired to write for a big funny comedy show, and then I get to the comedy show and they see me and decide that since now they have a woman writing, they need to turn the show into a soap opera. #davidletterman

@eloiseonahill: Holy crap that sounds like fun.

    *

"I'm sorry I'm not laughing—it just takes a lot to make me laugh. It has to be like, hilarious, to make me laugh. I'm sure you're really funny, but I'd just be careful with the 'trying to be funny' thing. Everyone has a really low tolerance for that around here. So, anyway, welcome!"

    *

I see a guy coming out of the writers' room by himself—he seems safe.

    "Hello," I call out.

"You can just say 'hi.' You don't have to be ironic about it," he says and walks away.

    *

I run in (holding my breasts since I'm not wearing a jog bra) as if I were late for the game. [Finally, someone acknowledges this!]

    *

"Lauren! Okay... how can I explain this—"

"Just tell her what you want."

"Okay, you're an expert. Meaning you know what you're talking about. Have you ever seen Stone Phillips?"

"Don't confuse her. Maybe she doesn't understand exactly what the joke is. Underline it in the script!" #davidletterman

"Guess how many female writers" is a fun game, but a short one. If you want something that'll occupy you for hours try "Count the white dudes." It's the monopoly of workplace oppression games. Never ends. Sometimes I play it to put myself to sleep. By the time I get to eleventy-five I'm out like a light (Did I mention I'm a girl and therefore can't count?) #davidletterman

But how are comedy writers supposed to be able to skate up to the line of appropriate content without the freedom to speculate about the size of Salma Hayek's rack?

Once we ban sexism from the writer's room, what next? What next, I ask you? #davidletterman

Something that reeeeeeeeeeeally annoys me about 30 Rock: Tina Fey and Liz Lemon both go on about women in comedy and all that jazz, but how many female writers are depicted on the show? 1? Do we know her name. Nope. Background character. Way to bring some chicks up with you, "Liz." #davidletterman

@LaComtesse: The character you're thinking of's name is Sue LaRoche-Van Der Hoot, and there have been at least two other female writers on the show that I can recall.

And why should the creators of 30 Rock feel obligated to paint a picture of comedy writing that isn't accurate? Sure, the show on the whole is cartoonishly exaggerated, but all the TV production stuff is fairly realistic from my experience. #davidletterman

@LaComtesse: There are two (or at least used to be, now I only see the blond-haired one) and it is funny/sad to see how far they stretch to get her to react to situations without ever having a line. If she hadn't spoken a single word a few seasons back, I'd assume she was mute. #davidletterman

@LaComtesse: But she has tons of personality! Didn't you see how proud she was to show off her bra? Not every character on a show can be the lead - there's a lot of comedy to be found in quirky glimpses of background characters.

Calling her "girl writer" was the same kind of wry humor that got us a character named "Twofer." Are you really offended by sexism even in characters that were created to poke fun at that sexism? #davidletterman
