<![CDATA[Cocktails & Dreams, Courtesy Of Dita Von Teese]]> Dita Von Teese is the new face of Cointreau - her ad on their site is totally stylish! - and last night she perfomed and introduced the 'Cointreau Teese' at Hollywood's Avalon for Jewel, Margaret Cho, Solange Knowles, and...Perez Hilton?

When Dita von Teese is in full deco mode - well, there's simply no arguing! She's Nora Charles fab.

Audrey Kitching is, apparently, a "Model, Hairdresser and 'Scenequeen'" and if her goal was attention, her confectionary coif is achieving it!

Margaret Cho manages to look adorable in the face of considerable sartorial opposition - including a jacket that looks like it was borrowed from a member of the original Princeton a cappella group, "the Tiger Tones," whom I once saw perform "Goodbye My Coney Island Baby" at a summer program.

Mayte Garcia is stunning, I adore the shape of this skirt and the "Think Pink!" esprit of the whole shebang. But there's something oddly peasant-blouse-y about the bodice, and I'd love to see a different shoe.

Jewel does realize she's standing next to Perez Hilton, right? Or does she just think he's a dude with a love of Cross Colors? Either way, love the fixed deer-in-headlights smile.

Relief! What say you about Jewel's cross-cultural melange?

Solange Knowles: My Man Godfrey on top, Studio 54 on the bottom!

Jodi Lynn O' Keefe's getup may be sweet, but she's not messing around! Backing...away...slowly.

This is Dita's original cocktail, the "Cointreau Teese:
4 cl (1 1/2oz) Cointreau
2 cl (3/4oz) Apple juice
1,5 cl (1/2oz) Monin violet syrup
1,5 cl (1/2oz) Fresh lemon juice
Frost ginger around the rim of the glass

<![CDATA[Pretty Clothes At The Ugly Truth Premiere]]> Uptight Workaholic is Taught How to Live and Love by Dashing Asshole The Ugly Truth premiered last night at Hollywood's ArcLight Cinemas. And the clothes that Katherine, Gerard and various supportive stars wore were better than the movie deserves, methinks.

I love the antiqued look of Katherine Heigl's chiffon, and also the 1890s feel of the draped skirt. Indeed, I'd say the gown is classier and more original than anything in the movie!

It's nice of Kate Walsh to represent - both Katherine and, apparently, Talbots! I jest. Actually, she probably pulls off this Preppy Handbook homage as well as anyone could - and looks kind of spiffy!

I love the contrast between Venus Williams' caftan of yesterday and this sleek little peach. I especially like that she's showing off her curves!

Wow, Mimi Michaels is really working the fairy princess thing!

I can barely concentrate on Nina Bergman's getup with this intense sexyface staring at me. And yes, she's doing it in every picture.

Terri Seymour looks crisp, comfy, and natural. And must feel totally self-conscious as a result.

I'll be curious to hear what you think about Jewel's throwback. I can't get away from the thought that I like it...on her.

This makes so much sense! Serena Williams is a bombshell!

As Bonnie Somerville knows, when in doubt, an LBD always works.

She relayed this cunning secret to Anna Faris.

Bree Turner's dress looks like it's covered in broken glass. This looks dangerous. And I can't get past that.

Major props to Jennifer Morrison for shopping her closet, but as this shows, not all shifts are made to be belted! (This is something about which I feel strongly.)

Yvette Nicole Brown looks easy, breezy, lovely, and happy about all that.

Roselyn Sanchez' dress kind of reminds me of when Flora, Fauna and Merriwether try to make Briar Rose a dress without magic. "It looks awful." "That's because it's on you, dear."

Deidre Hall is ready for a cruise! Cue the Love Boat theme. Now. Do it.

Clearly Rachel Harris doesn't care that I want her to start owning her glasses and wearing them on the red carpet. Fine. Whatever. Do what you want. I don't care.

And for your sins....

  • Alfre Woodard says she doesn't like playing moms because, "Americans have a hard time writing moms. I'll get a script and everything's really great, everything's well-drawn, but the mom is like this character, like stock footage, they go and get that out. They plug it in, this idea of "mother." You could lift moms out of any script, no matter what the culture, what the neighborhood, what the economic status, even if it's a period mom, and you could switch them around, and they'd be the same person. I think it's because most people don't really have a human idea, a specific life that they attach to who their mother was. Their mother was there for them, so it either gets deified, or the opposite. That Mommie Dearest kind of thing. We love them or we don't, or we rebel, but we can't see who they are. That they are a person in life with taste, with sexuality, with opinions, who is pissy also, who has a right to not be the big tit for you every time you want something. And then we leave, and we go off to college or off into the world to work-you really appreciate your mom then. But there's that big chunk when you don't know your mom's faults, desires, wishes, distastes." [The A.V. Club]

I can understand how people outside the country wouldn't understand how Ireland got to its prosperity but everybody in Ireland knows that there are some very clever people in the Government and in the Revenue who created a financial architecture that prospered the entire nation – it was a way of attracting people to this country who wouldn't normally do business here. And the financial services brought billions of dollars every year directly to the exchequer. What's actually hypocritical is the idea that then you couldn't use a financial services centre in Holland. <![CDATA[Country Music Awards 2008: Big Hair, Sequins, & Nicole Kidman]]> I might be from the South, but I know jack about country music. Which is why I think I was doubly amused by the Country Music Awards, which took place in Nashville last night: People wore cowboy hats! In earnest! But the happenings were made all the more interesting because 1) Nicole Kidman was there, and 2) a sampling of random celebs, including Maureen McCormick, Paula Abdul, Miley Cyrus, Jewel, and Crystal Gale. (Faith Hill was on hand as well, and looked terrifying.) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of the Country Music Awards, after the jump.

The Good:
cmt08urbanandkidman.jpgNicole Kidman and Keith Urban = hot shit.
cmt08carrieunderwood.jpgCarrie Underwood's dress is not bad, but a little boring.
cmt08dianadigarmo.jpgIs it wrong that I have two American Idol alums in a row in the "Good" category? Mazel tov, Diana diGarmo.
cmt08jewel.jpgJewel!
cmt08leighannerimes.jpgLeAnn Rimes: You look good.
cmt08maureenmccormick.jpgWhen did Marcia Brady become a MILF?
cmt08mileycyrus.jpgI love Miley Cyrus' dress, but I think she is way too young to be wearing it.

The Bad:
cmt08aimeemayo.jpgAimee Mayo's name makes me giggle; her outfit makes me frown.
cmt08bigkennychristiev.jpgDitto for "Big Kenny" and "Christiev".
cmt08crystalgale.jpgWhen I was 5, I loved Crystal Gale.
cmt08saraevans.jpgSara Evans scores a double "oy".
cmt08laurabellbundy.jpgLaura Bell Bundy is starring in Legally Blonde: The Musical. Elle Woods wouldn't be caught dead in this dress.
cmt08paulaabdul.jpgPaula Abdul: Now starring in Kiss of the Spider Woman?

The Ugly:
