I enjoyed Glee much more than I am sure I should have. But Mathew Morrison's voice over was perhaps the worst thing I have seen/heard on television. And yes, I have seen Passions.
@onthecornerofparkerandwoolf: did you like this weeks episode as much as the sneak preview pilot? I liked it a LOT less. I'm gonna watch next week but I was disappointed.
@bluebears: I agree, but I think it had more to do with how different it seemed. The pilot was cute and happy and this week's was kind of weird and kind of too dirty. The scene with finn and rachel (is that her name?) making out I was half expecting to end up being a dream because it just didn't make sense. Once I see another ep or two and get used to it I think it will be okay
@noodleashy143: yeah good point. It was like, too much happened too fast. Like one episode in and the cheerleaders are on the glee squad? and the head cheerleader has the solo? idk...I was a little put off by how abrupt it was. It was like they were trying to cram to much into one episode.
@bluebears: Yeah, it was a lot all at once. It had me wondering how they can keep it going at this pace. Eonline has a good review of how they're storylines are kind of over the top but that it should calm down. [iphone.eonline.com]
@noodleashy143: I definitely thought they were going to drag the Finn and Rachel crush thing out for way longer. I was surprised to see (inevitable) make-out happen in the 2nd episode.
@NellMood: Exactly! That's why I thought it was a dream or something. Is Finn going to go hook up with Rachel everytime Quinn doesn't put out? Drawing out Rachel's crush would have made more sense than having her get all mad that he's not leaving Quinn for her after they've barely known eachother. But the episode did seem to kind of have a teen horniness theme, so I can see it, but I don't know where it will go from here. Are they going to stare akwardly at eachother all season?
@noodleashy143: I don't know, it definitely all felt super rushed. I hope the show picks back up- I loved the first episode, but this week's just wasn't as good. Something about the songs felt off, too- not just the song choices, but they seemed way more lip-synced or something?
@Lumbercath: Never seen it, but I can't say I'm surprised, seeing as they featured "Golddigger" as one of their sing-alongs. I mean, it's about how women are money-grubbing whores who only marry and have children to separate men from their money, right? (And the "broke bro" radio edit is bothersome for rhythmic reasons as well. It doesn't fit the meter! Can no one come up with a trochaic foot to replace the racist slur? How about "brother"?)
@Lumbercath: It doesn't bother me since all of the men are screwed up, too. I think Will is the most normal, but he's still naive and hopelessly dorky. He's obviously stuck in his own high school glory days. And Finn has that mailman/sex thing and seems to be not very bright - "I have a football scholarship?" I have a feeling other weirdness will be revealed as the show progresses.
@mscomplexity: Well as long as people are being responsible about it and being safe, it's not our place to slut shame men or women on how many partners they choose to have. My only problem is when people feel pressured to have unsafe sex or sex when they aren't prepared to handle all of the potential consequences.
@5ft of fury: It's not about slut shaming; it's that having sex with hundreds and only relying on a condom is irresponsible. A condom is not 100% safe and there are STDs you can get while wearing one.
"Kate Moss's boyfriend Jamie Hince is getting tired of Kate's lengthy karaoke sessions and is limiting her to half an hour a day."
I don't know why, but this made me laugh a lot. I'm just picturing her bellying up to the karaoke machine and wailing out, I dunno, a song from "Grease." Hee hee.
Ricky Gervais' quote surprised me. I always though American TV was ripping off British TV...and not doing it nearly as well! Trading Spaces (British version: Changing Rooms) come immediately to mind.
I am looking forward to the explanation of the names. Marion: for someone's mother/grandmother, I buy that. But Tabitha: as in Samantha and Darren's child on Bewitched?
"Did he want me to be his 'older woman' friend? He gravitated to older women. For solace? Succor? A beard? Did he want me to teach him the ropes? I never could quite figure it out."
@goldenmonkey: but she has a point. He hung out at various times with Katharine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna (who was actually his age, but for some reason I think of her as older) and Diana Ross.
I think it was a combination of heroine worship, culling tips on performance, and just the ability to hang with ladies who understood the spotlight.
I would really like to know which British TV shows Ricky is talking about? None of the comedies currently on British television represent any of those shows he is talking about.
I had a dream the other night that I was at a really scene-y club and I was not having a good time. I wanted to leave so badly. Suddenly, Jay-Z showed up and said, Why are you leaving? I came here because I wanted to kick it with you! (he may not have said "kick it" in my dream...)
Anyway, the rest of the dream was Jay-Z and I becoming BFF's.
Good on my new dream best friend's part for using his clout to ban that shiteater Chris Brown from the BET awards.
