Seeing Brunner set up like she has after years of Blackwell was literally a relief for us Ohio citizens. I voted on Sunday (4 hour wait, but worth it!) and I knew my vote would be counted because of her. Her and Strickland both are amazing, and I hope they keep their jobs for decades.

As an Ohioan who is overseas I was enraged beyond belief by the crap that the former Secretary of State Blackwell pulled. The guy was an all out freakin' criminal.

When the new Dem governor was elected and appointed Jennifer Brunner I think you could almost feel all the Dems in the state let out a simultaneous sigh of relief.

I am really glad to read that people like her are out there doing their jobs so Americans can vote!

However, tragedy has struck! I lost my "I Voted" sticker at lunch! I thought I was going to cry. Ah well, at least I know I voted. :(

I'm impressed that she switched machines to the optical scan machines ... the best system I've seen so far because they count votes immediately AND there's a paper backup. I DO NOT TRUST all those electronic touchscreens ... too many stories about how easy they are to hack and oh, the fact that major Repubs own the companies that make the voting machines, cause my hardened librul heart to be a little suspicious.

She can be the new Election Czar in the Obama Administration! Cuz even in these times, we need to continue the fight to allow every eligible person in this country to vote. I spoke to a friend in Norfolk, Virginia this morning as he was in line to vote. He reports that two people were removed from teh line for "voting irregularities." Can you guess what color their skin was?

most of the poll workers in my place were black but almost all of the voters were white.

I don't understand how someone could look at their party say "we would really benefit if we could bar people from voting," and NOT see how there's something so so wrong with that! If you have everything to lose from voter enfranchisement then you are undemocratic and that is just the way it is!

She is awesome and heroic, but a little voice in me is sad. Personal politics aside, this shouldn't be necessary. For crying out loud, this is the western world... there shouldn't EVER be an issue with new voters being challenged. There shouldn't EVER be malfunctioning machines to log votes. I am so glad she is willing to fight for her constituents rights, but I so wish she didn't have to.

@pandorasmittens: Oh, I've seen a lot of McCain stickers/signs, but there are tons of Obama signs out today. One major street was littered with McCain signs (at least 100 in a row in the median) until someone removed them and put up handmade "Stop the Lies, Vote Obama" signs.

I did see an SUV with glass chalk scribbles all over it urging hunters and gun owners to not let a "darkie" win and take away their guns. That's the craziest thing I've seen though.

@KathrynwithaY loves Joan Collins: I'm another Ohioan with you! When we left the polling place, we saw an Obama sign and it made me feel a bit better about today's potential outcome. My personal goal (other than an Obama win, obvs.) is Ohio going blue!
