I misread the Jennifer Lopez quote (guess a piece of dirt on my screen looked like a period to me), and it sounded so nonsensical that I kept imagining Tracy Jordan saying it. Here it is (imagine in Tracy Jordan voice): "Part of my business is looking good. But I'm not the monster. I used to be in the exercise department."

@EdnasEdibles: Really? I thought it was pretty much like that. She wanted more and more money, demanded $10 million as I recall, and they offered her $5 million. She said no, she wouldn't do it unless they came up to her price - and they called her bluff.

@Breamworthy: I think it was more the realization that her salary was way beneath (double-digit millions beneath) what the other judges were making. Just another uppity female thinking she should make the same salary as a man for doing the same work.

@Laines: I don't think that's entirely accurate. Only Simon's salary was released - no one knows what the other judges make. Yes, Simon makes a lot more than she does, but he is heavily involved in the creation and production of the show, and largely responsible for the rebirth of this entire genre. Simon and Paula's roles are not really comparable, for reasons that have little to do with gender.

@Breamworthy: True. I would be okay with that if she was asking to match the salaries but as I understood it she was asking for a raise and they kept lowballing their offers. It never feels good to know how little your input is valued by your employers. And then they replaced her with Ellen - someone well known for having tons of music industry knowledge and experience?

I can't imagine P.A. was anything close to a joy to work with but I have a hard time believing that Jackson's or Seacrest's salary negotiations would have been treated with such disdain by TPTB or the press.

I admit my bias because a friend worked for Cowell & company and the stories made me an unfan.

I've always felt kind of bad for Julian Lennon. Take out the fame and I've known so many people in that situation, even losing their dad before they were able to really reconcile. I also have always thought he was a solid songwriter but of course, he's going to always have that shadow over him.

@HarpMadness: I love Julian and I don't blame him for being upset with John. From what I've heard, he was not a great father to Julian. I'm glad that he has forgiven his father and has gotten some peace.

@HarpMadness: He really is an amazing musician in his own right.

I just find it ...almost ironic...the parallels between John's relationship with his mother, and Julian's with John. Especially the fact that John lost his mother suddenly in his late teens, and Julian lost John in his late teens, both times when the child and parent were becoming close again. So sad.

@Ailatan: I just returned from Rio last month. I'm basically still working through my post-vacation blues and miss that city terribly. I used to think Jesus Luz was a bit goofy looking, but seeing him in that context makes me think he's really cute. Brazilian men are really charming. Those coconut waters are great for dehydration, by the way!

Hugh Grant is about the only actor I can think of, who makes me laugh out loud when I read his interviews. Funny guy! But I agree with him, he sucked in Music & Lyrics.

@dancerevolution: My dad doesn't wear non-collared shirts or non-khaki pants. AT ALL. He did the whole boarding school for high school thing in the 60s and never let go of the uniform, I guess.

PS- He also runs in green khaki pants and a long sleeve rugby shirt with a zip-up sweatshirt. Classiest runner ever.
