    @sj001: Do you have any browser tools that block flash or ads? I think the gawker sites cache linked videos and re-stream them, so you may need to whitelist them. #jalexanderfather

    Okay, I'm going to say something that I know is completely ridiculous, but still: Given the situation he described, where it's a sperm donor (or donors) that you know and are friends/comfortable with and there are no apparent fertility issues, would anybody else try the ol' squish the contents of a used condom out and see if it takes route? I mean, aren't IUI and IVF really really expensive? Would anyone else be tempted to go the cheapo DIY artificial insemination first, or am I just disgusting? #jalexanderfather

    @Confutatis Maledictis: Either we know the same couples, or it's more common than people realize. I also know two couples, one gay men, one gay women, who have children together and share joint custody like divorced parents do. I've never asked on the specifics of how the children were conceived though, lol. #jalexanderfather

    I can't believe that Miss J has been a presence in my life since I was barely old enough to call myself a "teen". I remember how totally bizarre and intriguing he seemed to me during Cycle 1... and what it was like then, seeing someone like him on t.v. for the first time. I'm not trying to be deep or anything, it's just funny to realize that he has been a sort of constant in my life for 6 years now, and to think about how much I have changed since that first time I saw him. Now he's the person on ANTM that I identify with the most, and he's like an old tv friend. He's my diva Mr. Rogers or something. And just like I never thought about where Mr. Rogers goes once he sings his song, puts on his sweater, and heads out the door, I never really thought about where Miss J goes after he pulls one more rhinestone covered flower off his dramatically oversized collar and leaves panel. #jalexanderfather

    I know it's ridiculous, but I read on some completely non-reputable website that he was actually straight and his flamboyant persona was just that- a persona he adopted for work and publicity.

    I scratched my head for a long time on that one, because I knew it had to be wrong, but also I could believe it . . .

    Either his entire personality is an incredible layer of affect that he just activated one day or his coming out had to be the most ho-hum outing in the history of the closet.

    If I knew him back then but he acted as he does now and I walked in on him having sex with a lady I'd check myself into rehab or into a psychiatric ward for delusions. #jalexanderfather

    @Meglantine: My dislike of Jay stems far beyond his rudeness. When watching a rare Cycle 1 rerun-athon, it became patently clear that a once down-to-earth, straight shooting, albeit flamboyant man had opted to play up his camp season after season for maximum obnoxiousness. And for no other discernible reason than good, old-fashioned famewhoring. Boo. #jalexanderfather

    @doit2julia: I think it's possible that he was playing down his natural persona in the first season because I'm sure no one was sure how a person like him would play on national tv. As it's become more obvious that the show's audience isn't put off by him, perhaps the real Miss J has simply emerged more? Things have changed a decent bit for gay acceptance in pop culture even since ANTM started, so I wouldn't blame Miss J just yet. #jalexanderfather

    @Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: I actually remember hearing say that the child isn't biologically his, that he was with someone who donated sperm to the cause. The boyfriend/French lady friend still give him rights to the kid, i.e. he's still in the kid's life even though the relationship with the boyfriend is over. #jalexanderfather

    OMG! Geniouz creates another Walled Garden on the Internet! Stop the presses!

    Everything on the Internet is just a tool: it's never been about the tools' "founders" - it's ALWAYS about how the adopters use it.

    Livejournal and Blogger did many things in 2001 better than Myspace and Facebook have nearly a decade later. What they got right was the automation of presenting connected people with suggested and explicit relationships. AOL, MSN, Prodigy, you name it - they too were social networks, albeit essentially "self-serve" in the sense that you didn't have all of these relationships tossed in your lap all the time. God forbid you venture to the edge of the map...

    Personally, it pisses me off that there is so much buzz about what hasn't ostensibly changed. I like the idea of the Web as a vast terrain that I can explore under my own control. Facebook and all of the other portals feel like fucking cruise ships. Screw that.
