OK, I thought I was an Emma Thompson fan already, but in this one story alone I learned 1. She and Greg Wise got married, 2. She has a daughter, 3. She and Wise are good people, and 4. She knows how to raise a great family.
Also, I love her. I got tears in my eyes just looking at those awesome photos of her family. That she and Wise did it almost completely out of the spotlight shows she's not a complete media whore, unlike so many others. Jon and Kate, Brad and Angelina, Madonna and...whoever, could take some tips on child-rearing from her.
Katherine - wah wah wah - Heigl should spend some time talking with Emma Thompson's son about his days as a child soldier. That is something to cry about. Getting paid a kajillion dollars to make a crappy t.v. show is not. STFU and be grateful for what you've got, Katherine.
That girl is itching for a bitch slap. Her digs at Kate are too much. It's nice to know that dads can choose to leave and have fun playing ping pong, sans kids, but moms generally have to live with the consequences (i.e. raise the kids alone).
@morninggloria: Oh no! Heart puddleitis! This is a very serious case: as a doctor*, I am prescribing you 5 TLC specials starring the Duggars. That'll harden your heart right back up. Don't do more than five, though, or it'll turn your heart to stone, boil your blood, and completely fry your brain, not to mention all the vomiting.
@morninggloria:Click on the picture of Lady Gaga in a kermit fur coat on the side of the Emma Thompson story and that should clear the heart in puddle problem right up.
@BlondeGoddess: I know! There are so many reasons why this is awesome... not least because they took a teenager from about the worst possible situation into their life. But the fact that it isn't highly publicized is the icing, because to me that signifies they are just good people who help because it is the right thing to do.
@Island of Misfit Toys: Campbell actually does a lot of work for charity, especially in Africa. She's raised quite a bit of money to fight AIDS in South Africa and does some work with Nelson Mandela. It's just that all we ever hear about her are the temper tantrums, which are more interesting to tabloids.
@Island of Misfit Toys: I've met and worked with Naomi several times and she has always been fantastic. Sweet, polite and considerate. Unlike many of her contemporaries (I'm looking at you Linda, Cindy).
Its easy to have options when you're 22 YEARS OLD and DON'T HAVE 8 CHILDREN, fucking jackass. You know the world is messed up when Kendra Wilkinson is the voice of measured reason, jesus. I need a drink, half for me and half to throw in Hailey Ass-man's face. /k sorry, done ranting (and yes I know its immature Perez style to call her ass-man but I can't help it, she really pisses me off)

@Mmmmkay (gellin' and Jezebelin): Right? Um, Jon, if the option you wanted was "ignore the kids, get drunk and bone," it probably wasn't ever going to happen - at least not more often than a decent babysitter could be located. That's what happens when you have kids - they responsibility for them is not sold separately.
@Mmmmkay (gellin' and Jezebelin): It's maddening how cliche and horrible and unfair this is.
(And I prefer David K's nickname for her, something to do with meth eyebrows).
@queenieinmanhattan: One of the guys involved with Entourage calling someone else misogynistic? I wouldn't really say every woman on Entourage has been portrayed well either....
@Bunsen Honeydew: Whatever, Seth and his date rape jokes have me being totally over the Apatow crew, too. Both groups are cut from the same cloth, frankly.
@Bunsen Honeydew: Entourage is the most misogynistic piece of shit I have ever had the displeasure of laying my eyes upon. For Wahlberg et al. to call another actor misogynistic? Um, look in the goddamn mirror.
@hannelore: Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. Sure, the Apatow gang is a bit too boy's club for my liking, but the guys on Entourage aren't exactly announcing "Gee, isn't my wife awesome and smart and not a nag?" The Entourage crew would be pretty hypocritical to talk about other guys being misogynists.
@Bunsen Honeydew: Yeah, I would say at this point that the Entourage crew are more blatantly misogynist than Apatow & Co. I mean, the only woman character with title billing is called "Mrs. Ari." The Mrs. of a character who spews more misogynist vitriol than any other on the show, which is saying a lot.
What Katherine Heigl so kindly ignores is that EVERYONE ELSE on the Grey's set also had a 17 hour day, and as a production assistant on many shoots that have run that long, I can assure her that the PAs on her show made $100 to $200 for that day, while Ms. Heigl takes home $13 million a year.
17 hour days on a set are not "cruel and mean" for an actress, they are just boring. It's not like she had to (god forbid) work the whole time. She just hung out in her trailer.
@Lazy Line Painter Jane: Here, here. But, does anyone like working 17 hour days? I wonder if she's giving a voice to everyone on the set for calling out the grueling schedule. Or do some things never change?

Is it even necessary to tick off the ways in which this makes Madonna look like even more of a covetous, exploitative, self-indulgent diva?

I love the pics of the whole family. They look so cute and happy. Her daughter is adorable, and it's sad she couldn't conceive again.
