I'm pretty sure that the intention was camp -- as Paco Hertez said, it's not like Jack in the Box is looking to lose customers! -- and yet it really only works as camp (as opposed to straight-up mockery) if there are alternative narratives out there, blah, blah, blah. And there aren't. Women over the age of 30 -- of all colors and stripes! Yay! -- are either punchlines, or harpies in pop culture. So, yeah: Sigh.

Also, menopausal women have always been feared and part of a joke, never taken seriously. NOT COOL.

The Great Indoors: when they first moved into my area, they ran a series of radio ads that said things like, "do you ever wish your husband would be elected president just so you could redecorate the White House?" (It helps that they sell overpriced crap.)

Diet Pepsi: recently ran a spate of ads with a woman narrating that women nag you while you're driving because we know everything! Except we can't recognize good diet sodas which is why we're leaving Diet Pepsi to men. I'm not kidding. (It helps that I don't drink diet soda.)

Carls Jr: This is from way back when they ran their ads with close-ups of people eating and the foley guys jizzed themselves over how much free reign they were given. Extremely triggering. And then they got Paris Hilton involved and there was no redemption anymore, ever.

First, they took away yogurt. Next, they turned my Dell into a hot pink albatross. And I didn't say anything. Then, they turned smoothies into a drink whose only purpose is to cool heat flash ridden women.

Enough is enough, advertising. Stop engendering every single damn thing. Smoothies are delicious, calorie ridden drinks. Sell a product instead of gender normative bullshit.

Ohhhhhh! I was just talking to the hubby yesterday about how I get so fucking tired of being the punch line, or the reward. I mean I'm either a joke for men to giggle at or I'm the reward they get for being good boys and buying the hair product/car/hamburger they are supposed to buy. When do I get to be the courted consumer and not made fun of at the same time?

When I first saw this, I wss like, wow, an "older" lady in an ad - what are they pitching. Then I saw/heard the whole thing and got quite stabby. I'm surprised they didn't call the smoothies "Cougar Soothers" or something.
