    So, I'm guessing that the MTV programming from now until May 31st will be back to back specials about how amazing, influential, and brilliant past MTVMAs were. Expect to see Adam Sandler joshing about making out with Keanu Reeves daily.


    This is why I no longer watch MTV.

    The Slumdog Millionaire shithole scene grossed me out, although I knew they were trying to speak to 1) how deplorable conditions can be in the slums and 2) make a funny. But I had to look away because I could smell the shit and ugh.


    I just watched that movie last night, and I think I would have liked it better if it hadn't won so many Oscars. Or maybe I'm just cynical and have a cold stone heart. The ending moved me, but I thought it was a tad too contrived. Not that it was supposed to be realistic, but I just didn't get carried away in it all like so many others.


    The kissing in Milk was kinda hot, but why wasn't Franco nominated for Best Naked Swim?

    @rednrowdy: I think it's incredibly weird. All of these $100 million-grossing teen movies and action movies and then... a movie about an illiterate Nazi guard that didn't even make $30 million? I really doubt that many people in the MTV demographic saw it, even with that "older hot chick getting with the teenage boy" storyline.

    @JessaFields & @CGirl: : it's like they think "oh, kate was in 'titanic', so she's just awesome". i'm not saying she's a good actor because she is, but this role? this movie? out of all the parts given to women in 2008, really?! just because she won an oscar for this part doesn't mean it's suitable...

    I cannot even believe I'm weighing in on this, but...I don't think Freida and Dev actually kissed in Slumdog Millionaire. Which is its own barrel of WTF.


    Also, how is Ashley Tisdale nominated for a breakthrough in the third movie in the series?

    @sarrible: They "kiss". They pull in for the kiss and then the movie stops, not actually showing it. It is a Bollywood inspired film after all.

    This kind of reads like a backwards MASH game. The voters were all "I want to marry Zac Efron, Robert Pattinson, one of those ambiguously straight Jonas brothers, or whoever the hell Taylor Lautner is" and the MTV employee in charge of sorting through the poll results added in the wild card which is actually the guy that makes sense to anyone past their Hot Topic/Claire's Boutique years. One sensical among the nonsensical.


    But maybe this is because I want to marry Ryan Reynolds, live in a mansion, model, and drive a shit green moped. Damn you best friend that did my MASH sheet! It was so good until the very end!

    @sarah0220: Heh, I knew after I hit "submit" that I shouldn't have said something so inflammatory! Sorry, I just loathed that movie. Hathaway's performance itself was fine, but the movie in general...hated it, couldn't figure out why it got so much critical acclaim. Literally fast-forwarded through a few of the seemingly interminable rehearsal dinner and wedding speeches/songs. Couldn't figure out why lily-white sister and African-American fiancé decided to have an Indian wedding ceremony. Etc., etc.

    @Kivrin: Haha, well I guess. I just loved it. I think mainly because it was different from other movies out there and I thought the acting was pretty phenomenal. And maybe they just like to embrace other cultures? Who knows, but I just loved it.

    @Kivrin: Get out of my head! That's exactly what I've been screaming about the movie since I saw it. It wasn't just short little scenes with the wedding stuff... i would say the majority of the movie was wedding speeches and dances.
