i think the only part that guy is protecting is his ego- no his ass...after feeling emasculated from the fisting he begged for the night before. men...so typical!
Definitely true. I've practiced in one of said non-medicaid-circumcision states, and I'd circumcise INCREDIBLY rarely, especially at the large university medical center I was at. We'd charge $200 (though outside hospitals charge $400, so it was... half off...) but most of the mothers couldn't afford it, so we simply didn't do it.
"I am really angry that bad pole dancing stereotypes are being thrown in my face." Now, I could be wrong about this, but pole dancing was sort of invented for stripping, right? I think it's awesome exercise but I completely understand that the teachers and administrators of the school found it inappropriate for 14 year olds.
I'm tired of every little thing being ascribed to the recession. I made lentils for dinner, must be because I'm reflecting the lean times with a lean dinner! I ate cookies after, must be because I'm storing fat for these uncertain times, and with comfort food, no less! Someone cite me as an expert, already. I'm so good at analyzing trends.
P.S. That guy woke up to being raped. That is so horrible and not cute or hilarious, people.
I can't believe medicaid would pay for circumcisions. That makes me sad. I mean, seriously... it isn't really a necessary procedure. In the majority of cases, it doesn't affect your health.
I wonder if the reason for girls reaching puberty at earlier ages is due to the growth hormones that are injected into the meat we eat. I went to school with girls from abroad and many of them claimed their breasts grew once they came over and started eating American food.
So, are we going to start making fun of female rape victims too? I imagine the outrage over that would be INSANE. Seriously, some of these comments are incredibly offensive.
I understand males being assaulted isn't as common, which leads to jokes (unfortunately), but we need to think about this for a moment. Making fun of men for being RAPED is insinuating that we think some rapes are amusing. Which they are not.
I haven't been blonde in a year, dammit! I guess I'm always the oddball. Fuck this economy. Can't they come out with a decent highlighting kit for us who can't spend $200. every 6 wks.? Guess I'm gonna be a $10. box brunette for awhile.
@JazzednJersey: Frost and Glow (Clairol, I think). The only good one out there, and please trust me when I say I've tried 'em all. (I really like dyeing my hair.)
Despite the vaguely "consensual" sounding nature of the police report (the man had been "intimate" with this woman 5-6 times before, got up the next day and made coffee and laughed at the woman's joke about killing someone), I bet this woman gets convicted. Which probably wouldn't happen had the sexes been reversed. Ugh.
@SylvanSylph: How is their being intimate 5 or 6 times before in the last 6 months consensual? And the man had been drugged and didn't put the whole thing together until some days later, so I don't see what his reaction the morning after had to do with it. I mean, even if that wasn't the case, I don't see what it would have to do with it. Would you think that those elements sounded "consensual" if the sexes had been reversed?
If what he alleges is true, that woman drugged him and raped him, and she should be convicted. If she did what he says she did and she's not convicted, that's a miscarriage of justice, as it would be if the sexes were reversed.
I get your point that lots of male rapists get away with their crime, but something about the way you've argued that point doesn't sit right with me.
@titilayo: No no! It isn't consensual at all and she is completely horrible and deserves it. I'm just saying that had the sexes been reversed, the defense would likely have used that information to demonize the victim. I was thinking of that essay posted about a month ago about the young girl who was brutally gang raped and how some laywer still managed to come up with reasons why it was her fault... like she occasionally smoked pot. Sorry if I didn't express that well.
you are using all of the arguments defense lawyers use against female rape victims on a regular basis.
-oh but they had sex before
-oh but she didn't say anything afterwards
-oh she was asking for it
there is no question that male rapists get off. but that DOES NOT BELITTLE THIS WOMAN'S CRIME. she sexually assaulted a person in his sleep. she needs to go to jail. there are no hints at any sort of consent here. this is not "gray rape."
@wedropscience: Holy crap! I wasn't arguing that she should be aquitted! Obviously what she did was terrible and she needs to be in prison for a long time! It just irks me thinking about how a man could have gotten away with this just as you say.
@SylvanSylph: I can completely see a misreading of this! The "ugh" is directed to a man in a similar situation getting away with it, not to the woman being convicted. Sorry, it is definitely dinner time for me.
I just read the police report, over at the Smoking Gun, on the molestation case, and it's quite sad. Assuming the allegations to be true, the guy was drugged and sexually assaulted by someone he trusted, and it's really done his head in. I don't understand why they're calling it molestation and not rape.
