    I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet, but for Ewan fans (@LuvEwan, I think that's you) you can verify one particular scottish data point in The Pillow Book.

    When I rented the movie I had no idea it was going to expose such things to me.

    Reminds me of an old joke. A Russian firm is ordering condoms from an American manufacturer, and specifying that they had to be at least 11" long. The Americans thought it was a mistake, but the Russians insisted, so the Americans sent the king-sized rubbers to Russia--in boxes marked "средство" (medium).
