    @Chivone: Let me be very clear. I am not making these women "Other" or "Exoticized" by answering charliekohler's question about how to get shiny hair. Before you call anyone out for anything, ensure that you know whether any of the commenters are Indian themselves.

    I'm sure that if every commenter were Indian asking about how to get shiny hair, you might have kept your comment to yourself.

    Also, because I myself am not white, I resent your condescending tone.

    @Master.And.Everyone: If it isn't about you, don't try to make it about you.

    The way that all of these commenters are talking about Indian womens hair is indicative that they are not Indian. They're the same every time there's a SJ in India. And as an Indian person, most of the exoticizing comments I've gotten IRL about my looks have been from nonwhite, mostly black people. So for you to pretend that you could do no wrong because you're not white just makes no sense whatsoever.

    I wasn't the one who interpreted that comment as being about me; you did. You pretended it was all about your comment, then you spouted some nonsense about how it wouldn't be said in response to a bunch of Indian women. Well, DUH. Indian women don't talk about how all the Indian women they know have awesome hair.

    Your race and whether you have been exoticized is irrelevant to your non-argument. Since you did claim some kind of immunity by virtue of your non-whiteness, my paraphrase stands.

    Although I appreciate your input, it was neither solicited nor necessary to the conversation.
