    Nah, they were talking about Bush the Elder, who was a one-termer. They talk about returning at 18 later (for the next 8 years), but there childhood memories seem to be about their grandpa's presidency.

    And finally, although it's an honor and full of so many extraordinary opportunities, it isn't always easy being a member of the club you are about to join. Our dad, like yours, is a man of great integrity and love; a man who always put us first. We still see him now as we did when we were seven: as our loving daddy. Our Dad, who read to us nightly, taught us how to score tedious baseball games. He is our father, not the sketch in a paper or part of a skit on TV. Many people will think they know him, but they have no idea how he felt the day you were born, the pride he felt on your first day of school, or how much you both love being his daughters. So here is our most important piece of advice: remember who your dad really is.


    This seems to be more of a note to the media, but it's still a nice thought nonetheless.

    @EdnasEdibles: Apparently, Susan Eisenhower did just that several years ago. The only recent First Kid who hasn't corresponded with her is Amy Carter, who is painfully shy and just wants to stay the hell away from any of that.

    Awwwww. When my mom worked on The Hill, we used to "trick or treat" every day she'd let a friend and me come to work with her - by going door to door at the Longworth building and asking for handouts from all the congressional offices. Peanuts from GA, I 3> NY bumper stickers, OJ from FL...


    Then we'd ride the little subway train between the Longworth & Capitol.

    @labeled is drained.what a day: I'm not a total yokel, btw - the little train wasn't so much a "subway" in the way you think of it, as a small tram made specifically to delight 12yo's. (And yes, we used to be able to roam DC at will when I was 12.)

    @labeled is drained.what a day: I love the capitol train! I spent a semester in college working as a Senate intern and the subway (along with the ability to flash my pass to get in the door unchecked) was my favorite thing about the place.


    Did they have the fancy pants covered subway cars back then, too? It's like a Disney ride or something

    @chouflur: I don't know you, but I am an idealist, and idealism has allowed American's to dream great dreams and make them come true. We are caught up in a hopeful moment, and I think it is equally silly, or dumb as you say, to assume that a President will only last one term.
