I feel weird that these two people I have never met make me so unbelievably happy. They've been married for over a decade, have two children, and still act like they're newlyweds. First step to World Peace.
I absolutely love that picture. At any wedding I go to, I do my best to get a similar shot. It's so simple, but so incredibly intimate and sweet. I love that they have one!!
Sexiest first couple ever. (JFK and Jackie? Please - keep 'em. Good looks, good taste and money combined still do not equal sexy.)
I wonder what they said to one another that night, once all the festivities were over and they were in bed in their PJs. It never occurred to me to wonder that about a new president and first lady before. I hope their conversation included lots of silly endearments and jokes that only they would get.
I also wonder if they've done it in the White House yet.
This is going to sound insane but I honestly did not realize how much George Bush was stressing me out until he was gone. I was really in a constant state of fear for eight years. I worried about every piece of news I heard. Not consciously really, but there was just a nagging fear of the "oh my god what is he going to do" variety. I just feel so relieved now. I can't really explain it.
@OffTheRecord: I understand completely. I felt the same when in Australia our right-wing Prime Minister(referred to by George W as a "man of steel"- they loved each other!) of 11 years was voted out in late 2007.
The hope I started feeling was amazing and I felt very much the same when Obama was voted in.
Every time I hear someone say "President Obama," like on the news or NPR, I can't help but get a little giddy. I have a humongous grin on my face right now, and that's saying a lot considering I still have two more hours of work before I get to go home. Yay for President Obama!!!
I've been using the picture of the Obama's and the Biden's waving goodbye to Bush's helicopter as my desktop for a few days now. It perfectly sums up how I feel.
@icingsugar: It was such a nice gesture for the Obama-Bidens to walk with the Bushes to their helicopter and see them off. Apparently that has not been an established custom, but I bet it will be one from here on out.
And you know that was Obama's idea, too. It's so him.
@Perla: The watch is something that one of his SS detail gave him for his birthday last year. I read that on the Guardian UK. So, yea I bet he wears it all the time bc if Obama didn't wear it the SS guy would get mad.
@grlykool: Oooh, a Secret Service-approved watch! Imagine what hidden special properties and features it must have. Like Batman's utility belt, you know? I bet Obama could use it to rappel down the side of a building if the need arose.
I just called my husband and when he answered I screamed "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! OBAMA!" into the phone and then hung up. I recommend you do it to someone you love immediately. It feels REALLY good.
