Speaking of remakes, I just read in OK magazine (what? I was at the hair salon!) that they are remaking Footloose. With, who else, freaking Zack Efron. I can't be the only person to think he is just a one-note pretty boy with no acting skills whatsoever. Just a minor ability to dance.

Just the fact that Dirt Bag could not possibly have an Ione Skye item every day is what makes me love the hell out of her.

Heh, David Beckham. Rag-and-bone men are, to me, the codger in the Christmas Future part of A Christmas Carol, who was buying Scrooge's bedclothes right off the corpse. That aside, though, the Victorians were admirable recyclers. They even had use for dogshit. We could learn from them.

@katynels: He earned his way back in with his work in Lesotho and his support of the NGO I worked for, and for actually going to Afghanistan to try and have a military career (instead of just wearing the fancy uniform). However, there are no third chances!!

Um, that's god's way of saying Howie Does It sucks and he wants you to stop.

And I'm sorry to offend the purists, but given the bird in a cage, Mickey Rooney's offensive "yellow face" performance and George Peppard being a love interest, I don't think Breakfast at Tiffany's is above an accurate adaptation. Not big on old men and young girls in Sabrina either, so she can remake that one too.

@rose.of.many.thorns.colette: But still creepy. And Harrison Ford actually said that Winona Ryder, who was rumored to be up for the role as well, wasn't too young to be his love interest. I love Audrey Hepburn, but I can't watch a lot of her movies because it was like she was passed around Hollywood's aging lions at the time like a cold beer on a hot day.

Also, I will save this sacrilege for the second page, but Breakfast at Tiffany's, Audrey Hepburn's charm excluded, is actually not a very good movie (Mickey Rooney as her Asian landlord, anybody?). I think an Anne Hathaway remake of the book could actually be quite interesting.

In regards Emma Thompson and other celebs protesting further Heathrow development, I can't help but think that in this financial climate we really need job creation. It's not ideal, but I've seen a close friend lose his job and he and his partner are expecting their first child shortly. So many others incl myself are worried we won't be able to make mortgage repayments if we are forced to reduce our hours or take a pay cut. I think job-making ventures for a time at least should be prioritised.
