Fact: I almost picked up the first book in the Gossip Girl series at the library on Saturday but was too embarrassed (and this is from someone who maintains 2 different Gossip Girl-related listservs for friends, including a one for episode recaps).

I think I'm gonna take the plunge next weekend, though...

@angelheadedhipster: The books are quite fun to read. Absolutely shallow and without substance, but so absurdly delightful it's insane.

"Will Ladislaw is charming, but somehow although a great deal is said of the passion between him & Dorothea one fails all through to feel its power. When it was so dangerous to love at all, they might have loved a little more!"

That is sheer awesomeness and pinpoints one of my frustrations with that tome. And I was 20 when I read it... oy.

I hope they publish these new found correspondences rather than keeping them hidden for another zillion years.

@MissSkittles is not your kind of lady: I was late to the party, but I loved it. Total guilty pleasure, and easy way to get my boyfriend out of the office.
