Are there any graphic design Jezzies who can offer to... tinker with their site? I love the idea and will likely pick up the magazine, but it looks like it's right out of 1998.

Oh, boy, I hate the whole 'herstory' thing. And while we're at it, 'womyn' can take a flying linguistic leap, too. It's like calling a penis a throbbing manhood or something.

OK, y'all... with the conversion rate, what are we talking in US dollars? (Yes, I'm stupid about these things. Someday when someone needs to know a carat weight/mm conversion, I'll pay it back.)

@scarletwine: I'm hoping that I can convince my alma mater to carry it so I can go there and read it. Almost $60 bucks for a quarterly is insane, no matter how much I love history. (and that would be a ton.)

Perhaps my sister and I can go halvsies on the subscription price and then mail them to each other......

Note: 2 history majors in one family makes for some fantastic dinnertime conversations.

I seriously love Bess of Hardwick. There was a great biography that came out a few years ago that I would recommend to anyway.

Off to check out this mag.

I have been fascinated with Isabella Bird ever since I saw a production of Top Girls.

This is awesome and reminds me of the Austen quote from Northanger Abbey:

"history, real solemn history, I cannot be interested in. ... I read it a little as a duty, but it tells me nothing that does not either vex or weary me. The quarrels of popes and kings, with wars or pestilences in every page; the men all so good for nothing, and hardly any women at all - it is very tiresome."
