Is that a dog-rescuer in the yellow at the end? Here in the US it would be very rare for the authorities to come help out a dog like that-- I live in a semi-rural area and see dead dogs and cats in the road kind of a lot (and usually have a little panic attack behind the wheel when I do). Also, on the less heartbreaking elements of this video: is that Boards of Canada in the background? if yes, props to Chilean(?) news channel
The video isn't that bad guys! It's so grainy that you can't really tell what's happening until the AWESOME doggie rescue at the end. I, for one, am warm fuzzy now.
@badmutha: @jennyOH: Thanks :) He's really got so much personality. Now I know what it feels like to be one of those parents who want to talk about and show pictures of their children all the time.
@Sukie in the Graveyard: I should not tell you the horror stories I heard about from a friend of my family who lived in Qatar. The animal abuse there is beyond anything she had witnessed before. It sent her spiralling into a deep depression she didn't recover from for a long time. Her stories left me in tears.
Does anyone remember a few months ago when that old man got hit by a car and like 50 people walked by and watched but no one helped him? I wish I was a dog.
@plothole: I think the one you're talking about happened in Hartford? I live outside Hartford and it was all over the news and it made me cry. I hate people sometimes.
When my kitty died when I was little (my dad ran over it in our driveway during a snowstorm) my other cat sat by its body and waited next to it until we took her (alive cat) away. It was so sad. I think the other cat got depressed, because the next summer she ran away and lived out the rest of her days with our neighbors.
@morninggloria: When our cat died in the garage last summer, doggiesparks not only found him, but also went back to the same place, every day for months.
In fact he was just walking over there, the other day, looking around. He misses his friend.
My oldest dog died of old age and cancer last year, and the other puppy went insane with grief and confusion. The older dog spent most of her days sitting on an ottoman in the den, and after she died the other dog would constantly go up to it, lay on it, smell it, or sit and wait expectantly. One day I came home and she had torn through the cushion, ripped out all the stuffing and was sitting inside of it whining. I think she was looking for the other dog. It was awful.
@Katxyz: Ok I just started to cry. I try not to think about how sad it will be when my Finnigan dies, but sometimes when we're cuddling and I think of how much I love her the thought pops in my head. And I basically try and overshadow it with happy thoughts.
I can't even imagine how sad it would be to deal with having another dog going through that same pain. sad.
@thecameralovesyou: I think about that with my kitty. I don't know how old she is, because I adopted her when she was already an adult. If I lost her it would be so terrible. I look forward to going home after work and hearing her run to the door and meow while I unlock it.

Or they'll stand over me and protect me until help arrives.
Mollie and Rosie are very brave.
This is a good way to pass to a boring afternoon.

I up the ante with a video of my pup:
I miss her. I'm currently out of country and can't see her.

My heart-rate spikes momentarily when I see animals on the side of the road.
It's so unfair.

You want to see me fall into a pile of tears and agony? Show me a dog in pain.
You want to see me fly up into a fist of rage and terror? Show me an owner beating his dog.
(I swear to God, I would ASSAULT that man in the worst way - no matter his size - and I would proudly go to jail afterwards.)
