Earlier this year, New York State's Regents released outline of required knowledge for 9th and 10th grade World History students that contained the names of 35 male historical figures and only one woman. Unsurprisingly, this did not go over well.

Good Morning America's Lara Spencer went to the White House on Monday with several women who worked in the factories during World War II who had been trying to meet the President and Vice President for many years. One of them was so excited she decided to kiss President Obama.

French author Camille Laurens is accusing another writer of "psychological plagiarism" for supposedly retelling the story of Laurens's son's death. Reading the "plagiarized" work, Laurens says, "I had the feeling that it had been written in my bedroom." [UPI.com]

Canadian feminist magazine Herizons has created the Museum of Motherhood. For now it's purely online, but the founders hope to ultimately bring their tribute to mothers, their stories (and their herstories) to stone-and-mortar life. [Utne]
