    I just went redhead.


    Well I was supposed to be cotton candy pink but there was a hiccup with the dye and the only way to fix it was color over it. So now I am a redhead. Thanks for saving my life Feria R37!

    BTW: Ladies of a certain age (as in OLD and crone-like like moi) shouldn't try anymore - it just looks fake. Gave it up after seeing a photo. Tried again and the same damn thing happened. I am now silver and loving it.


    And I was a natural redhead when younger.

    If you choose to dye your hair red, DO NOT USE ANTI-DANDRUFF SHAMPOO on it. I once dyed my hair bright red, realized I was out of shampoo, and used my dad's. Shortest dye job ever.

    Bah. For a full year now, I've been planning on going back to red this fall. Stop stealing my uniqueness! (I'm not doing it now b/c i want to be blonde for the summer. sorta.) I am, however, chopping all* of my hair off in about 2 weeks and donating it, then coloring the rest.

    Red was the last color I ever dyed my hair, and it didn't work at all. You'd think, given that I have the pallor of the dead going on, I'd be able to pull off red, but - alas - it was pretty terrible. *shrug* I guess I'm a slightly tawny shade of pale.

    A warning to those going the henna route: if you then go for a salon (or drugstore box) dye, you are likely to end up with green hair. And not a good green.

    Henna is more permanent than regular hair dye. Be sure you want this to be your haircolor.

    And green?! Did you get your money back/refuse to pay?

    @Isi: Yes. Henna is extremely permanent and will seriously react with any salon or box permanent color.

    @undomesticgoddess is grace personified: This isn't the salon's fault. Henna dye is not very common, and clients often don't tell stylists that it's in their hair. There is a salon process to remove it, though. I think it's fair for the salon to fix it for free, but you should still pay for the stylist's initial time and supplies.
