    @deeemer: It hasn't been as good in terms of routines. But the individual dancers are pretty amazing. Jakob Karr is sick. I could watch that man jump all day.

    And they have a krumper who has managed to rock every style he's been given, which amazes me!!

    @deeemer: Season 5 was amazing. And the routines! Holy crap, they were fantastic and novel every episode. (Love the 3 girls routine).

    Season 6 is lacking the good choreography. But the individual dancers are pretty amazing.

    @sayah: Nothing in particular. My idiot boss though is considering hiring a felon who has been out of jail for 3 days and I am in the office alone a lot and it makes me nervous then I feel guilty about being nervous. My boss has zero sense and even if the guy feels sketchy he will likely hire him.

    @sayah: well my boss is only willing to hire a felon because he can get tax breaks or something. I have been expressing my concern and he said he wouldn't hire him if he seemed weird (and btw he has in brief interactions I have had). Someone else who he listens to has said he thinks this is a bad idea as well.

    See that is where my guilt comes in. Theoretically he is rehabilitated and everyone deserves a second chance but something is not sitting right when I met him/spoke to him.

    I guess the main problem is my boss is the owner and a few years ago I have having issues with a new guy (saying way inappropriate sexual stuff, even in front of boss) and when I told boss he didn't do anything and I had to go to someone else who made sure the guy was gone by the time he was back from lunch.

    I just don't feel like if something comes up he will have my back.

    I just quit my Shitty Seasonal Retail Job. I'm pretty sure it was the right decision. It was at a store I haven't shopped at in years, partly b/c the quality had gone down, and partly b/c the clothes weren't as pretty as they used to be. Since it had been so long since I shopped there, I knew nothing about what the store had. When customers would ask me where X item was, all I could do was go find someone else who knew the answer. And when customers would say things like, "This store is just too good, I can spend too much money here," it was all I could do to hold my tongue from saying, "Are you fucking kidding me? I had a dress fall apart after wearing it twice!" And I had also made a fool of myself a couple of times by speaking too candidly/honestly to management (Ex: Manager says, "Ok, it's your first day here, I want you in Men's Chinos." Me: "Ok, what do you want me to do?" Manager: Blank stare. Then, "Haven't you worked in retail before?" Me: "Yes." Manager: "Then sell clothes"). I was a little too embarrassed to go back. I think I'm not meant to do retail work anymore. I'm pretty sure I made the right decision. And now I'm going to look for work where I can actually use one of my three college degrees.

    DOUCHE.

    I'm starting to think I have a problem with this word. Specifically, when this word is used to refer not to feminine faux-hygiene but to immature, loserly men.

    I admit it rolls off the tongue, and early on, I tested it out. But I can't get past the significance of using woman-related terms to denigrate men. (For the record, I feel the same about "pussy," but it's less au courant.)

    I see a lot of us using it on here in our comments. Am I alone in my issues with this? Harmless or not? What say you?

    @JerseyGrrrl: I like it, because a douche is an entirely unnecessary product that is meant to appeal to all women, but in fact is harmful to their vaginas and universally laughed at. It is cheap, cheesy in aesthetic design, and gathers dust in the dark back corners of the shady convenience store of life. Nobody really needs one, but some women may end up with one taking up space in their bathroom anyway, because somebody convinced them to go against their better judgment (most likely the douchebag itself, enthusiastically vouching for it's own relevance). Or maybe they felt sorry for it, or thought it'd be a laugh, and brought it home, and now it's there and they kind of regret it because they could've spent that 50 cents on gum and the novelty has worn off.

    I think it fits quite well.

    I don't like pussy, though. I mean, I love pussy. But I don't like when it's used as an insult. Because all biological ladies have at least one, and they are incapable of having any personal characteristics. Except for Megan Fox's... which is apparently strong, and can talk.

    For the rest of us, it's like saying "hey bro, don't be such an elbow!"
    "yo, he's right, you're always bending, and keeping things together, and knocking into stuff, you're a total elbow, dude."

    @prismatism is Team Bella: This is exactly why I use that word. I don't really like to use gendered words, such as pussy, cunt (obviously), but also dick, prick, etc. Douche is perfect because it's bad for women. If I call a guy a douche, it's probably the worse thing I could call him (besides asshole, that's another one I use. Everyone has one!).

    @prismatism is Team Bella: OK. I see what you're getting at and I appreciate the elaborate lengths of your metaphor. But I think the average speaker employing "douche" in mocking isn't actually thinking that way. I think it might be more like, "Heh, douches clean hoo-has, man! Vadges! HA!" Or something similarly inane.

    If only we could sub "elbow" for "pussy." It's perhaps the least of the issues facing women in the States, but it never fails to upset me when I hear it. It's like using "fag." It betrays a lot about the speaker's thinking without her realizing.

    My beautiful Scout :o( has been assaulted.

    Went down this morning to drive to my last class of the semester before finals and there's a giant white colored dent by my back passenger side wheel well and a large white scrape all the way up the door.

    Can't fix it--no money and finals to worry about. So this has basically just been a bitch session. Thanks for listening!

    @JerseyGrrrl: Good point! My car is dark silver/ gray, but most of the ugly paint came off with a wet rag-- or at least it's not as noticeable. The dent, as you say, is still unsightly :o(.

    Thanks for the commiseration. I'm glad there wasn't severe damage. This car has to last me awhile!

    OK, my parents are pushing me to buy a condo. The thing is I make under 40k a year and while I have a decent amount saved, I'm worried about being house poor or getting stuck in a small studio that I can't sell. And oh yeah, I live in the Boston area, so my savings and salary don't go that far.

    Right now, I'm putting money aside every month and thinking about looking when I am up for a raise early next year-- that way, I have a little more money to work with and I know my job is safe. But my Dad is telling me that I should buy something NOW while interest rates are low and there is a tax credit for new homebuyers. I'm just not sure that I'd be able to pay a mortgage, condo fees, utilities, food, car maintenance, insurance, taxes, various healthcare fees, the small luxuries I have now (I will not give up yoga and dance classes-- they keep me sane and happy), AND be able to put some money aside for emergencies.

    @Sputnik_Sweetheart: Don't let your parents guilt you into this. If you aren't ready, you aren't. The worst thing ever is buyer remorse, especially on something you can't return.

    The tax credit is nice, but it didn't exist a few years ago, won't exist a few years hence, the world won't end, and you'll eventually buy something. The worst thing is spending money you don't have, or aren't sure you have. Do Not Do It.

    So, pretty much, I'm telling you to listen to your gut.

    Oh, but what were we actually talking about? As far as the pressure, I can see your parents' points, but YOU are the one balancing your budget each month, as you seem to be so good at, not THEM. I'd tell Dad that if he wants to front some money, you'd be happy to buy now. If not, he has to accept that you're not comfortable making such a big commitment just because the terms are favorable.

    You're also very right about feeling "stuck." I LOVE my house, but I do have the sense of being tied to it, because you can really only leave if you can sell, and these days.... well, you know.

    You sound like you have yourself so together, and I know you'll make the best decision for YOU.

    @Sputnik_Sweetheart: Either tell your dad that he should buy you a condo or wait until you are ready. The tax credit goes until at least March 2010. If you have your raise by then and things look better for you, you can reevaluate then. $8,000 in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot of money anyway. Over 30 years it would be $22 a month for your mortgage.
