I couldn't agree more. However, for the most pressing issue of the day, let's face it, this guy is probably on the money...

I have this old friend who just made a birthday event on Facebook and invited basically everyone except me... We haven't spoken in a long time except at parties but we share the same core group and we've known each other for a long time. We've never had a fight or a falling out, we just sorta drifted a part a bit after high school but like I said, we are always friendly when we're together and we used to be quite close.
I'm feeling kinda hurt by the exclusion and wondering what the best way to handle it is... do I say anything? Or do I just take it as a sign that she's not interested in knowing me at all any more, cut my losses and move on?

I know my answer is not very specific but what you want out of the relationship (and what you're willing to commit to in order to rekindle it) may put your feelings in more context.
Though it does suck being excluded, especially if all the mutual friends were invited. That strikes me as bad form on her part.

2) You could call/message the friend in question and invite her to coffee/for a drink and to catch up. If she's like "Oh, I'm washing my hair that night," then you know what's up. If she goes with the plan, then you may re-kindle the friendship.
3) You could cut your losses and move on. I've done this to former friends before, and never looked back. It's hard at first, but then you just forget about them.
If you do decide to move on or she has some illwill towards you, you can think about it like this: Not all friendships are permanent. Think fondly of the good times that you shared together, and be only somewhat regretful that you're not as good of friends as you once were.

It's weird because we've never fought, but for some reason it seems she doesn't like me any more. It wouldn't bother me as much if it seemed like there was a reason for it. But I'll have to come to terms with that I suppose.
It's especially difficult because, like I said, I don't have any close, real friendships at all, and sometimes I feel very lonely. When I see things like this it reminds me of that loneliness. I'm just... socially inept unfortunately.
Thanks for all the advice you helped a lot. =)

On the other hand, you could try one more time to reach out and find out what the what is, but if she doesn't take you up on it this time, you need to let go.
I swear, friendship breakups are worse than romantic breakups sometimes. :(

And there's not much you can do with a perforated ear drum but be alert for any symptoms of infection - increased pain, discharge, red, inflamed ear, fever, etc. Also if you have any change in hearing.
ETA - how do you know your perfed your ear drum? you actually need to go have someone take a look in there and make sure your diagnosis is correct.

It will make an awesome story after everything is sorted medically! I can't bend my right pinkie because when I was 18, I cut my finger carving the eyes in a pumpkin. Yeah, not my best moment.

Hearing is muffled and it was draining Saturday night but it's pretty much stopped now. I DON'T know that I've actually perf'd my eardrum but all the signs point to yes. No fever just kind of a dull throb. Though, I guess if I have a fever, that would indicate infection?
My parents were in the "doctors are for old people and babies" camp and I will look for every excuse not to go now that I'm an adult. Thanks for your input.

There are three or four different reality shows featuring people who bake cakes for a living. And not one featuring people who work in a pie shop.

Why Pie Beats Cake
10. Pie has more variety: Because of pie’s simple structure – a crust with a filling – everything from super-sweet coconut creams to quiche falls under the "pie" mantle. Heck, even pizza can be categorized as a type of pie.
Now, I’ll concede that there are foodstuffs which use the word cake in them – like crab cakes or pancakes – but there is no way that these items would be in any way be categorized as a cake in the traditional sense.
9. I love icing, which is the only reason I eat cakes. But I can get icing on pies, too. (Philadelphians – remember those great tastykake French apple pies with the raisins and the icing on top? Mmmmmm.)
8. Pies are easier to make. If I’m feeling really lazy, I can go to Safeway, buy some frozen crusts and some canned fruit, and voila! I’ve got pie. Even boxed cake mix takes more work than that.
7. Pies are more progressive, embodying the best values of our country. No one says anything is as American as cake. Rather, we associated cake with Marie Antoinette and the worst excesses of the French monarchy.
6. Agent Dale Cooper loved pie. (And if you don’t know who Dale Cooper is, that’s probably because you’re the type of bland sheet cake eating folks who like "According to Jim.")
5. "Can I buy you some pie?" is a great pickup line. Non-threatening and fun at the same time. "Can I buy you some cake?" just sounds sleazy.
4. In terms of holiday horror foods, mincemeat pie is much less threatening than fruitcake. Mincemeat pie may not taste great, but at least it won’t mess up your digestive tract until the new year.
3. Pie is an all-year round treat. I don’t have favorite seasonal cakes, but I do have favorite seasonal pies.
2. Pies can be full of ingredients that are bad for you, but it’s easier to make a healthy pie than a healthy cake.
1. Pies taste good. ‘Nuff said.
