    @deeemer: I have an emergency kit in my car and my boyfriend's car. Blankets, clothes, shoes, lights, batteries, medicine, first aid kit, and a gun/ ammo. And we have a few scenarios for getting out of the city.

    We're in DC though, so we're pretty much screwed in event of nuclear attack. Now disease etc, we might have enough to survive.

    Reading The Road pretty much killed any hope I had though ;o).

    @deeemer: We have water delivered so we usually have 3-5 of those large 3 gallon jugs at any one time. We have some canned food but nothing we made a point to have incase of emergency.

    @deeemer: I've been thinking about this a lot, lately. I am very unprepared, mostly because I have to move around a lot, and can't take my stored water and canned food with me everywhere. It worries me from time to time. In the event of the zombie apocalypse, I am so going to be in the first wave of casualties, especially because I don't even have a gun.

    In all seriousness, I'd love to be more prepared, but it's not possible right now. I would have to rely on others if something happened, which sucks.

    @curiousgeorgiana: Suck. There are no holes. The offensive line is terrible, minus the tight ends. That's why I'm slow to sign on to the "Jay-Cutler-is-horrible" bandwagon because he's constantly running for his life.

    @BearDownCBears: Boo. I was so hopeful for Forte after a great rookie season. Hopefully your O-line will get healthy/ get some draft picks in the off season.

    I am so glad the Redskins didn't pick up Cutler ;o). Not that Campbell or our o-line is much better.

    As my Dad has been a Bears fan since the 60s, Go Bears!!

    @BearDownCBears: I am disturbed at all these Michiganders who were apparently fans of non-Lions affiliated nfl teams.

    Seriously though, what has happened to their defense? I agree, Cutler gets no protection. I've always thought he was uneven though, even in Denver.

    @bluebears: Mike Brown was awesome, but he got hurt and old. Urlacher has sort of fizzled since his best days with neck and back owies. The starting defensive ends are over 30. Tommie Harris is perpetually hurt; the other tackle is a perpetual rotation. Tillman's okay, but he's no Charles Woodson.

    @bluebears: I hate to admit it, but yeah. The Mr. Cool approach is much better when you are structurally sound and need to manage games. Ron Rivera got in deep shit over the Super Bowl debacle, so Lovie took over the D coordinator job too. Now the defense plays like 9-year-olds. This correlation looks suspiciously like causation.

    Is it an attitude thing? Singletary's tough-guy routine is popular with the Madden types, but I'll admit I was a doubter. Pro footballers aren't high schoolers you can marshall along with "toughness" slogans about "no excuses". But you know, although the Niners are still not great this year, they're better than they were. Part of me wants to say Da Bears could use some of that right now.

    But you know, it doesn't look like their problem is discipline, it's talent. They NEED NEW PLAYERS. Same with the Lions, although you should hold onto Stafford, IMO.

    @BearDownCBears: They have really dragged their feet on getting young blood in, particularly in the defense. The really good organizations don't wait until their former championship team is totally old and broken before they get new players.

    I agree about the whole "tough-guy" bullshit. It CERTAINLY isn't working for Mangini in Cleveland and god knows its never worked for the Lions.

    eta: I agree about Stafford. I think he has a good arm and he showed heart in that Browns game. He will run up against the same problem that every Lions qb faces, absolutely no protection. Ford apparently is still trying to "crack" that problem.

    @bluebears: I think we take a colonial romp into Canada and steal their best CFL talent. We can recruit the Michigan Militia and compensate them with Nugent tickets or something. Whoever loses the series between our teams this year gets first pick.

    Be extra nice to Pilgrim Soul over the next few weeks, because we'll need to recruit her as an interpreter between the Canadian prisoners and the lawyers.

    So I don't have a signature scent. Not really. This is related to my lack of knowledge about makeup (outside of lip balm and the occasional heavy eyeliner for a concert), fashion (outside of jeans and Chucks and tank tops), and other grown-up things.

    I currently wear Ryder by Hollister (I know, I know), which I am fine with, but I'd like to find a "real" scent, you know? I've always loved the way Husband's cologne (all men's cologne, really) smells, but I don't know enough about perfume not to end up smelling like a dude. Help?

    (PS for those who remember -- the hair turned out cute except that my cowlick is accentuated. Awesome.)

    @ucelluccia: OK, and to add -- I like citrus smells in general, but don't know if I'd still like them in a perfume. I am drawn to clean smells in general, as well, but again, don't know if they will translate into a perfume. Grarrrrrrrrr frustrated.

    @ucelluccia: I have a love affair with Burberry's women's perfume. Unfortunately, I live no where near a Sephora and the cheapest bottle I found was out of my price ange at the time. :/

    @ucelluccia: Not trying to be a sephora salesperson or anything but they have something where you pay like $50 and get about 10 different perfume samples and then you can try them out and when you have decided what you want you go back to the store and they give you a full size of one of the samples. I'm not sure exactly what perfumes are in the pack but you should check it out.

    Group projects suck balls. I am so not a team player to begin with, but it doesn't help that I'm the only person who seems to be doing anything.

    @pantsless economist...access RESTORED: I have always thought this way about group projects. I always ended up doing all the work!

    But now I'm in law school and we just finished our group project. It was amazing. Everyone came up with a plan, divided the work, set timelines, showed up to meetings on time, and every one pulled their share of the load. It was flawless.

    Hooray for more serious students in grad school :o)

    Good luck with your group. I send you warm wishes and brie with toasted walnuts and honey.

    @pantsless economist...access RESTORED: Happy happy to you too! Should I be all Jewish-mothery and encourage you to do your homework sans vodka? No. No, I will not. I did most of my homework with the aid of alcohol etc, and I promise I turned into a fully functioning, positive contributor to society.

    That said, I chose to go Sad Singleton (TM) with takeout Thai and S2 eps of Doctor Who. :)

    @dcdulce: I don't know about DC to NYC but I've ridden a US Air shuttle 4 times last year on a DC (out of Dulles) - Philadelphia flight. 3 out of 4 times it was majorly delayed. It was when I was studying abroad in France and my program had some type of deal with US Air but it had to be out of Dulles (I still don't get it because US Air's main hub is in Philadelphia). It really sucked because both of my outgoing trips were completely screwed up because both flights to Paris left without me For the first one I ended up flying to JFK and I got upgraded to first class going over to Paris (I was a junior in high school; it was pretty cool).

    Husband & I didn't go out early but at Target they still had cheap movies and we bought seasons 1-3 of Weeds for $8.99 each.

    Also H & M had bogo free for all of their clearance.

    No gifts for anyone else just stuff for us.

    After having fought against the odds and staying completely healthy all semester long, I woke up this morning with a terrible cough, a runny nose, and a fuzzy head. And, of course, I have a 15 page paper due on Tuesday. Screw you, Thanksgiving cold! I'm drinking tea and getting some cough drops and then I'm going to DEFEAT YOU!

    @Dodgergirl: At least your illness is involuntary! I have 3 papers and an exam in the next week and a half but rather than be productive, I lay awake a night worrying that it won't get done.

    Result: I feel tired and sick and just looking at the stack of reading I need to do makes me feel more ill.

    The lesson, kids: don't go to grad school.

    On the plus side:
    a) I'm not hungover, just tired.
    b) I get to nap soon.
    c) I'm housesitting my friend's huge house in a fun area AND they paid me way more than I thought they would (I wasn't expecting anything, honestly, so that was nice)
    d) I'm fixing my haircolor today and will hopefully soon be blonde
    e) I'm cooking dinner for boyfriend tonight, including two GIANT steaks. OM NOM NOM.

    Yesterday, I made a HUGE Thanksgiving dinner with my fam for us and boyfriend's family. On two hours of sleep. Whilst battling a hangover. (What happens when you forget supper and then have four glasses of Merlot? OUCHINESS.) Then boyfriend and I rather stupidly went to watch the A&M game (whoop!) with some friends and we each drank a pitcher of beer. I'm now at the temp job doing menial tasks and wishing I could crawl under the desk and sleep.

    Lord, beer me strength.
